>>743231958I got reminded today that when Outer Worlds was announced there was a lot of excitement for it too. Obsidian already had a reputation back then for doing what Bethesdon't after New Vegas. Then more and more footage of the game was coming out and people lost interest because it looked the way it looked. Still, it's hard to fuck up the Fallout aesthetic and hopefully they will work from F4 as a base which wasn't irredeemably awful mechanically, it just had really dull writing, quests, characters. If it's a whole new game though...

I’m carefully optimistic, they still have good talent in leading positions and while their own worlds haven’t been that good, using Fallout means that they have a good pre-existing lore base to build on. I’d be surprised if they surpassed NV, but they probably can create something better than 3 or 4.

The story was dull as fuck, most locations lacked personality (really only liked the space station early on), there were barely any memorable characters, guns were boring etc.It was a game that felt like it should have been better than it was, but it just lacked stuff that would have made it memorable. At least the DLC was better than the main game because they clearly put in more effort creating background lore to their locations.

My biggest complaint is that I wish they gave you one or two more skill points on level up, the way it is now it feels like you can only invest in two max or you start falling behind in weapon damage, perk unlocks, and skill interactions.
