I gave the GT4 spec 2 mod a shot but for lack of a better word it's too vanilla. I honestly don't even get what's the point of this mod it's slightly polished up vanilla with variety of sidegrades. Maybe that's what people want but for me it's a bit disappointing.

the AAA ones started sucking shit because they frontload the game with all the high end cars so there's no real sense of progression. You shouldn't get a Ferrari or shit on that level until you're pretty far into the game. Add on to that that the culture has changed, which means the things those games are about has changed. Festivals have replaced underground meets, stanced cars have replaced ricing, street racing has been corporatised. Then there's the fact that modern cars are have less SOVL than older ones, even just going back a decade or so

I dislike driving sims, and arcadey racing games have really been boiled down into kart racers which are fun but really only as couch coop games. Burnout 3 was and still is the best racer for my personal tastes but I don’t know how to get my ps2 to not look like jelly when I run it through my capture card and into OBS so I haven’t really been able to play it in a while. Hopeful that the new pod racing game scratches that itch but unless they make the soundtrack a starwars version of mid 2000s alt rock I don’t think it’ll hit the same. I also liked crash tag team racing but I never see anyone talk about it.

Even fucking around in Sparrow Racing on Destiny 2 the other day had my heart pounding and my blood pressure rising to a point where I just had to step away. It's a shame, because I love games like BallisticNG, but I haven't joined a race day in a long time, and even the higher difficulty single-player campaign races start to get to me. I kinda wish I had the resources to race something in real life. I'm sure that level of alertness would do me well on an actual track. At least then I'd have an actual reason to feel so amped.
