Oblivion > skyrim > morrowwindSkyrim has a dogshit world with nothing interesting in it, worse quests, and while its combat is better elder scrolls combat is still shit.Morrowind has some cool elements - less handholding being a big one, but fails so much as an actual game its just not worth playing. Just read a book instead of fighting bad gameplay to get to good-for-a-game writing. Oblivion has plenty of flaws, but unlike the other two its weakest points don’t actively prevent you from enjoying the good parts. Its combat is passable, its world is nice to explore, and it has the best quests and random things to find in the world. Also shivering isles shits on every other part of elder scrolls. Elder scrolls overall is still like a 6.5/10 though and doesn’t deserve the mainstream success it has had.

Best music, colors, cities, and quests and it's not close. Personally I also love the stupid voice acting and faces but I completely understand why most don't. But, the leveling system really is atrocious, and I don't like the daedra gates because they make me uncomfortable and a bit claustrophobic. Skyrim has music almost as good, is almost as comfy, has much better combat, and of course has the best modding scene ever. morrowind is... decent. two really great tracks which are the title and road most travelled but the other music is forgettable. the movement speed and resource management makes exploring really tedious. yeah yeah you can break the game right away and move lightspeed but that gets boring. the game should have just been better to play, faster. It has some very memorable and charming characters and the story and lore are well done. It just isn't fun to play and the art direction is very drab and depressing, even though it's unique. It could have been more like zeno clash which has striking colors and fun to look at instead.
I think Morrowind is okay considering how old it is. But it's just okay. Oblivion for me is amazing and extremely goated. Very soulful. Skyrim is actually decent for what it is. It's decent. Everything after Skyrim has been a travesty and it's over for modern gaming.

I played Morrowind a few years ago and it was an extremely boring experience. It feels like if you engage with any of the systems even slightly the game implodes on itself. Like I pretty much eliminated the stamina system entirely by crafting some shitty ring or necklace a few hours into the game. It doesn't help that 80% of the landmass is filled with the same useless worms, crabs, and cliff fuckers
Find me a single fucking melee/archer player who actually prefers Oblivion to Skyrim. No, it's always wizards who are buttblasted over the loss of spellcrafting.

Oblivions exploration in terms of finding good gear is nearly non existent, you mostly get randomized enchants from oblivion gates and randomized level scaled loot from dungeons.As far as roleplaying and character builds go, morrowind allows you to make all sorts of weird playstyles / classes, you can debuff enemy stats and cripple them, summon 50 skeletons, be a paladin that buffs and heals yourself, be an avoidance tank, a mage that can jump 50 feet in the air. etc. Oblivions character building is also decent. Skyrims is probably the weakest other than dragon shouts offering some flavour.

>>743254267not that guy and i know what the old knight is talking about and agree with him that leveling your preferred skills is better than staying at level 1. my problem with oblivions levelling though is that leveling up is only better if you are actually making a good build. if i want to roleplay around a bit and level speechcraft then that will strengthen enemies as well and my speech wont be making me more effective in fighting. so if you level up too much the things that dont directly help you in combat the game becomes an absolute slog.

Vanilla Oblivion is actually sort of terrible but I do love it. Morrowind is the best because Skyrim doesn't have any attributes or class making or most of the stuff that should have been expanded on in the series rather than removed.
