Which one of these will dethrone CITIES SKYLINES 2 (which is having its redemption arc atm)?

CITYSTATE METROPOLIS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf5yAfi96HM

Made by one Polish guy on Unity. Procedural generation. Third entry into the CITYSTATE franchise which previously focused on tycoon sim aspects. This third entry however will be more of a traditional sandbox like CS/CS2 and SimCity 2013.

CITY MASTERPLAN
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIBIKXtwuW0

Chinese indie. Unreal Engine 5. High sys req. 24x24km maps - the biggest city builder ever. Don't know much about it but closed beta soon. Mods planned.

TRANSPORT FEVER 3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09WJsb-N_04

Logistics sim but it basically doubles as a city builder. The most promising and fleshed out game here. Acquired by Paradox for publishing at the end of development so Transport Fever 4 is gonna be ass but at least this one will be good, like CS1.

the reason modern citybuilders don't work is because modern cities are fucking shit and have no character
Simcity 4 had the best "era" of city-building captured, back then "New York" really looked like "New York"
it wasn't so noticeable in CS1 because it was way more cartoony and the assets still had a very "post-millennium" feeling to them
CS2 was just a bunch of ugly new-build apartment complexes that nobody likes, by comparison
I think all "modern" city-builders are gonna have the same problem and it's not the fault of the games themselves

everything is just kind of fucking bland now

The most interesting imo is Metropolis, but that shit will be released SOONtm. Masterplan is all style no substance like most Chinese games, looks pretty but that's it.
I'd probably get TF3 if it releases this year, as long it's not 80 USD or something.

ah, the reasoning why car games suck now lol

I don't think it's true because modern Asian cities are cool

>Masterplan is all style no substance
we know next to nothing about it

>like most Chinese games
...how many Chinese games did you play to say that? Wukong and Wuchang?

Chinese indies like Dyson Sphere Program, Chinese Parents, Hero's Adventure, Path of Wuxia, Amazing Cultivation Simulator, Matchless Kungfu, Tale of Immortal, Eastward, Volcano Princess, Legend of Heroes 3K etc. aren't really visually stunning but they're pretty complex

Upcoming Bustling World and Hundred Nights: DIFU also look cool

I dunno, the fact that Masterplan is Chinese is what renewed my interest in it desu
Dev supposedly likes old Simcity games and Chinese modders are pretty prominent in the CS/CS2 workshop

>Acquired by Paradox for publishing
According to their PR Paradox only got the publishing rights, Urban Games is still 100% independent from them. But then again that was also the deal with CO during CiM days and look where we are now. Then again these are Swiss devs we're talking about, slightly more craftier than the Sweeds, I have high higher-than-average hope for them but you never know what can happen.

guess we're all sticking with CS2 huh

Colossal are Finns
>>
I'm looking forward to TF3. sadly it likely won't come out for at least a year and won't be playable for at least 2. CS:M is made by one dev and will never come out.

>CS:M is made by one dev and will never come out.
He already churned out 2 games though
>>
>>743262174
I was comparing their craftiness them to Paradox, not CO, my bad for wording it wonky.

Hey that's my city
Fuck global object limits
>>
I really want to like city builders and even base building but I'm not creative at all so i always end up getting lost making shit and no matter what it looks like shit and as a result I'm never happy with what I've made and i just give up and uninstall.
