are you ready for adventure, anons?
>>
yeah. but it doesn't look like much of a step up from the first game. different classes, different story, that's about it
>>
Fuck your astrosurfed dogshit
>>
>>743255554
Everyone I've seen who owns this game puts dozens of hours in but
>>743255308
I'm not convinced sell me on 1 and I might try it

a person with a clear development vision making games, its fun guaranteed
>>
I still haven't mustered the courage to beat the last two abyss bosses I haven't beaten in the first game. Having to change party every fight in the endgame kinda drained me.
>>
Honestly didn't like the overworld traversal
>>
>>743257909
some endgame bosses are a huge pain, i completely ignored the labyrinth boss because i cant be assed to make level jobs to beat it
>>
>>743258115
I just bruteforced my way through by using that one accessory and sword that makes all skills instantly count as learned
>>
>>743258115
what labyrinth ? there's a labyrinth ?
>>
>>743257956
but it's the most fun part...
>>743258265
have you seen the giant black cube in the desert?
>>
>>743258314
oh yeah that
Kinda went in, saw an enemy that only took damage from magic and fucked off
I guess I also didn't do that
>>
>>743258358
caster favoritism, the jungle also rapes if most of your party is physical
>>
My one complaint about the first game is that sometimes I delved deep into exploration and mysteries, hoping to finally find answers about the world, only to be met with an unexplained boss and a treasure chest in the end. I love treasure chests and all but man climbing to the top of the tree left me feeling empty, like the whole thing felt like it was building up to a big reveal and then nothing. I guess I'm a lorefag and this game isn't really like that, but still.
>>
>>743257909
Your Summoners, bro?
>>
I hope after the events of the first game that this time the world is more populated. By the end it was depressingly empty.
>>
>>743255308
Hopefully it's harder

I might just not like 4 niggas in a row games anymore
>>
>>743258609
i feel you on that, by the end it feels like lore was less of a focus, but i do enjoy the environmental storytelling in a few places, like all the sunken rafts on the way to shoudu province
>>
>>743258609
I'm pretty sure the tree boss is just a FF reference

It'll probably be too much like the first game and I'll lose interest quickly.

Other than FF5/Tactics and the Bravely games, what are some other job system games?
>>
>>743261618
dq 3,7 and 9 are ok for job systems, kind of basic though.
>>
>>743261902
yeah, too basic for me to count them
>>
>>743255870
for the first game at least, there's a demo
>>
>>743261618
ff11, etrian odyssey
>>
>>743261618
xenoblade chronicles x is one of them...
there are very few games with class systems huh
>>
>>743261618
I can think of a few like ff dimensions, but I honestly kind of hate them
I replayed 5 recently with a gimmicky fiesta and it cemented my view that it's one of the few games that combines endearing characters with in-depth gameplay offering a lot of hidden techs that change how you view the game.
>>
>>743255476
Honestly, not the worst idea. I love salt and sanctuary but strongly dislike salt and sacrifice. Should've just made the same game again
>>743255308
No, I don't play slop. I started final fantasy stranger of paradise and I must say, this was the best recommendation I got on this site.
>>
>>743265717
>"No, I don't play slop."
>proceeds to play modern final fantasy
entitled fags dont think twice before writing do they
>>
>>743266123
NTA but he didn't even mention any final fantasy game. Stranger of Paradise is actually a Nioh game.
>>
>>743258609
>>743259503
what is the lore on this game anyway? it's supposed to be like an mmo, but the vibes are kind of depressing and off-putting while not really having a story.
>>
>>743266280
there is none, that's why it's boring and not worth your time. you can't have a good rpg with no story or worldbuilding.
>>
>>743266656
Dragon Quest 1, the majority of dungeon crawlers like Wizardry, some of the SMT games barely have a plot, the older Pokemon games had almost no plot either
>inb4 those all suck
lot's of people disagree.
>>
>>743262615
Not sure I would lump EO as having a job system. It has some strong class identity, but you dont really change or evolve jobs. You can cross class a bit. Not like FF3 where every character can be every job and you level them that way.
>>
>>743266280
Something something about the process, not the result
>>
>>743261618
MGQ Paradox
Imagine if Dragon Quest Monsters had a job system with multiple tiers of prestige classes, and multiple tiers of races that each of your 300+ party members can reclass into.
>>
>>743267194
DQ1 was literally all plot, what are you talking about?
>>
>>743269428
What are you talking about? I haven't played the new remake but I doubt even modern Squenix can squeeze a plot out of that game's premise. It's basically:
>game starts
>"the evil Dragon Lord conquered our land, they kidnapped our princess, you're the hero's descendant, help us!"
>"now go!"
and if you know what to do the rest of the game has almost no dialogue.
>>
>>743255308
Has Andrew given a release date yet? I could go for another game this year, though I wouldn't complain if it were early next year, either.
>>743261618
I've been playing False Skies lately after seeing it mentioned on /vrpg/. The Job System quirk here is that you can't go back once you change a job and there are four (technically five) tiers of jobs that you work through. Game's quaint, I think I enjoy the most how equipment works (you can equip anything but get more stats from things your job is proficient in) but I'd say it's only worth playing if you're jonesing for a late NES-like RPG and just want something different.

>>743266123
>entitled fags dont think twice before writing do they
Some people are irony incarnate. Their life is a joke.
>>743266274
Nioh plays like stranger? That would be three new games for me, awesome.
>>
>>743255308
Genuinely fun game, too bad it's free assets slop
>>
bump
>>
>>743269680
DQ1 has lore that is explored more in the rest of the original DQ Trilogy.
>>
>>743263173
What was your party?
>>
>>743270235
>Has Andrew given a release date yet?
he said recently he wasn't sure on an exact date, but minimum one (1) year from now. I'd expect Q3 2027 at the earliest

i hope the map has less empty bullshit this time

also the zelda dungeon was retarded
>>
>>743277314
I'm glad Warlock isn't the single source of buff removal for 90% of the game
Though it's a shame that Rogue just has 2 skills now
