Pick hunt off top of the list, go in, 10-20 minute hoont, get out, never see the same people again. Noone talked, there was no sense of community, nothing. The interaction was fleeting and transactional, you help in a hunt to get parts from the same monster quicker.Safi comes out, which was a monster you couldn't SOS (due to being a lobby-wide raid). Because you'd hang with the same couple parties all evening people would be more open to banter and/or callouts on what they were going to do in the fight.Similar went for Omega in Wilds, which didn't force SOS off, but had a boss so meticulously designed to anally rape noobs that you were better off just retrying with the same 4 people. By the second hunt you're no longer randoms; you're a team.Matchmaking is the issue. In a world where the computer streamlines the community experience, the community experience ceases to exist.

Melee was mostly auto-attacks, and skills and spells were paced out and had long cooldowns. And when you needed to recover it took time.FFXIV had none of that. Parties are formed by the matchmaking system. They're thrown together and immediately shunted into a dungeon. Auto-attacks don't account for shit and you have to spam skills constantly. And if there it only takes a few seconds outside of combat to have a full recovery. Nobody pays any attention to the chat channel unless they're sitting in town ERP'ing.
