After 13 years, the dust has settled. It's time to admit that GTA V wasn't THAT bad.
>>
>>743266360
it's a god damn masterpiece compared to gta4, the only thing that's bad about it is that it was way too fucking short
>>
It has a boring, lifeless world with less interiors than the game that came out 5 years before it. The NPCs are similarly lifeless, and all the "interesting" things in the map are centralized in one place. There's no reason to go to Blaine County or anywhere else above Los Santos unless there's a boring mission that forces you to drive there and back.
>>743267241
You have garbage taste if you think V is better that IV.
>>
>>743266360
It pissed me off that all three protagonists spend the entire game dickriding the random guy who claims that he's blackmailling them, and I kept thinking "why don't they just kill this guy"
and then later on at the end of the game nothing really changed and they just kill him and it works and nothing happens

fucking retarded. The entire game story doesn't make any goddamn sense. Trevor should have killed that glownigger right at the start
>>
I've never finished it. I get to the nigga~ quest and just give up.
>>
>>743267931
Low attention span
>>
>>743268020
Yeah that's got to be it. Not the dog shit story and unrelatable characters.
>>
Just like every GTA game it's just OK. It's not bad, not great
>>
>>743268048
That's literally like the end of the first mission so yes, that's entirely an attention span issue.
>>
>>743266360
The story was fine outside of the black gangster shit, tired of that but I guess it is grand theft auto's bread and butter right alongside mafia nonsense
>>
>>743266360
I bough this game when Best Buy used to have Buy 2 Get 1 Free pre-order deals. Got my monies worth along with BF4 and Destiny 1. All on PS3 so the online was free at least. Was an excellent send-off from PS3 as I went to PC after and never looked back. Thanks for reading my blog.

Franklin and michael were uninteresting characters, i oymly liked playing as trevor.
>>

I don't like Franklin much because his constant hustle to get out of his socioeconomic situation is too fucking real for me. They should have made him a little like CG, gave him a funny voice, whatever, but then again like you say the dynamic with Lamar wouldn't work.
I have no problem whatsoever with Trevor nor Michael.

>>
>>743277132
Kind of depends on what your looking for, but if you played the game a bunch why not go for some sort of silly mods? Or maybe do a challenge run? Most of the mods I've seen after just looking it up have just been car mods, so you may have to do a bit of digging yourself.
>>
>>743277265
He's some faggot boomer idiot.
>>
>>743277265
He's alright. You feel really bad for him at first, maybe even relate to him a little bit, but then you find out that Trevor used to be a fairly normal dude and Michael fucked him over really bad. A lot of people say Trevor is the worst character but in the end I just felt really bad for him
>>
>>743266360
>GTA V wasn't THAT bad.
The problem was it felt terribly underwhelming, and the moment they realized GTA:O was an infinite money printer they abandoned any single player support for the game outside of re-porting it.
Especially annoying since a lot of the stuff from online really feels like it belongs in the single player story.
And also the problem of the massive map the game promptly ignores.
Look at RDR2, it has a huge map, but it manages to mostly shuffle you around the world so you're exploring different corners of the maps.
>>
>>743276296
>lamar was funny as fuck
>c'mon nigga, we're nigga, nigga u can't have that yeeyee ass haircut nigga if you wanna get bitches on yo dick nigga. Nigga, i need money, nigga. pls gimme some money nigga even tho i'm useless and make you save my life every 2seconds nigga. I'm a nigga, nigga.
>Le funny
lamar might be the most annoying character of any GTA and you're seriously retarded if you think he's funny
>>
>>743276740
They're fine characters, but since you're switching between three characters their unique perspectives get set up and abandoned as fast as the game can to rope in the bigger dumber plot about having to work for the feds, or something.
Franklin is out of the hood almost immediately, compared to something like San Andreas where the first third of the game is CJ doing hood nigga things and securing territory for grove street.
>>
>>743277265
out of three, maybe, but he's still a cuck, literally
>>
>>743266360
The online used to be a lot of fun, especially before normalfaggots and twitch found out about roleplay servers.
>>
>>743267241
Yeah, it definitely shits on GTA4 but it's still meh. The multiple protagonists thing was a huge fucking mistake. Instead of getting a complete story we got 1/3 of 3 stories that never really get resolved and the end of the game is painfully rushed with a literally who bad guy. The lack of buyable properties/safe houses, no reason to ever go outside LS, messed up flying controls, and a ton of other little things just make it still not anywhere near as good as SA.
>>
>>743279168
>messed up flying controls
what the fuck are you talking about? they're fine, that's only a skill issue
>>
>>743266360
GTA V wasn't a bad game.
What was fucking atrocious was locking a shitload of content behind GTA Online, like heists which were the best part of the game. And of course selling shit in GTA Online for real money.
>>
>>743279280
No, they put in retarded auto-level training wheels shit on helis, which you can't turn off, probably because they were too afraid people would crash during the story mission, so you can't do anything fun in them. The random turbulence shit for planes which adds nothing but just makes them feel like shit but at the same time not being something that actually changes gameplay at all so is ultimately pointless.
>>
>>743277937
Yeah. The game would have been better with just Franklin or just Michael as the protagonist, then have the other as the main supporting character to build the mentor/student/surrogate son aspect. Trevor was supposed to be the main villain but obviously got switched last minute because they liked him too much or some shit.
>>
>>743279820
Huh? Trevor and Michael's stories are intertwined throughout the entirety of the game.
>>
>>743266360
I've played through the SP campaign three times, I think. I have been entertained all three times. So I think it's a good game.
>>
>>743280479
The majority of the game is spent establishing Trevor as the antagonist who is a threat to what Michael and Franklin have going. Then they just drop it and so have to last minute pull a new villain out of their ass.

>>
>>743266360
V was my first GTA, IV was my second, III was my third, haven't played anything else in the series, here's my personal take.
V is piss easy but entertaining, at least before Michael and Trevor devolve into a bickering old couple, they really should have given you the option to kill Michael's cunt wife and shit children instead of forcing him to cuck to them, Franklin is a boring diversity goody two shoes politically correct negro, Trevor is mostly just an annoying edgelord, Lamar is the most entertaining character because he's not a cuck, a boring negro or Reddit in human form.
IV is a glorified courier simulator, over half f the game is just driving people or stuff around.
III is barely a game.
The whole series is extremely overrated and I have no reason to expect VI to be the mindblowing experience people think it is gonna be, it's probably gonna be just as retarded easy and cinematic as V.

But I'm right. V's map sucks fucking ass. The layout is horrible, 90% of content is concentrated on the city at the bottom of the map, highways are too direct leading to you just holding R2 with your brain turned off, the entire top third of the map only has like 2 routes of access meaning you'll always experience it the same way, helicopters don't even spawn anywhere in the entire countryside for some reason, half the map is wasted on mountains you will never go to, there's no water separating any of the landmass so there's basically zero reason to use boats. It's SHIT

The radio stations in V suck ass and get mogged HARD by GTA IV and SR2. They managed to make the classic rock station mediocre. The pop station is a jumbled mess of random eras with no identity. The electronic stations, Soulwax FM and Flylo FM are the most utter dogshit selection of electronic music I've ever heard, especially compared to the electronic stations in TBOGT and Sleeping Dogs. The country station is shit compared to K-ROSE. Everything else is completely forgettable dogshit

The missions are shit and way too scripted. People will talk about variety but what that usually amounts to is one-time gimmicks, like the horrible yoga mission and stacking containers with a crane, or heavily scripted setpieces. Look at a mission like Caida Libre, I'm sure you would describe it as an epic mission where you chase a jet, but the mission always plays the same way, you just drive a long way to a specific location, and the jet might as well be a floating marker. Basically the equivalent of someone jangling keys in your face. Meanwhile, IV's core shooting and driving actually stand on their own so they didn't need to rely on gimmick garbage

There's other issues too with the map that I forgot to mention. There's only TWO hospitals for the entirety of the countryside, meaning if you die anywhere in Blaine County while messing around you will only respawn in one of two places, making the map feel even more repetitive. If you spawn in Paleto Bay, you will always have to take the same boring highway in one of two directions, can't even take a flying vehicle because no helicopters spawn there even though there is literally a helipad there, because V's game designers were smoking crack on the job

Another thing making this all worse is how you can't buy houses anywhere in the countryside (well, you can't buy houses at all kek). So you have even less reason to ever go to Paleto Bay, but you also can't ever start your game there and explore the map from top to bottom. It's funny that people sometimes complain about not being able to buy houses in IV but the game gives you a safehouse in each of the islands (and 2 in Algonquin), so you can still experience the map from different prespectives

There's also the issue of the impound lot. Because Rockstar didn't implement a proper garage system that saves your custom cars like you had in Saints Row (or even, like they had in fucking GTA Online), if you lose your car it will end up in the impound lot (if the system feels like working), problem is there's only ONE LOCATION for the ENTIRE map. If you were driving a custom car you had stored in Trevor's safehouse around in the desert and you lose it? Go drive all the way to that one impound lot in Los Santos, and then drive ALL THE WAY BACK. It's yet another thing that makes the map feel so fucking repetitive. Turns out it's a bad idea to have something so important centralized in one spot. Imagine if you only had one Pay n Spray or one ammunition store for the entire map

GTAV sucks so fucking bad man

it was alright but it got way too much time in the sun. it would be remembered more fondly if GTA6 had come out 5 years after its release and 5 was just another GTA, rather than the GTA game for 3 console generations. definately the most 'on rails' gta when it comes to missions though, the older games give you a bit more freedom and are way more fun to replay.

Driving in GTA is obviously arcady but it always had a touch of realism, and having physics so simplistic that supercars are the best offroaders because they have the most grip, making the entire offroad class useless, is just lame. Even in the PS2 games it wasn't like that. Try going up even a slight dirt incline in a sportscar in San Andreas and you'll just spin your wheels

>>743266360
If it hadn't been part of a series, it would've been an alright game for itself. Not great, but OK. Since it's a GTA game though, you have to compare it to what they were previously willing to do, and it comes up short in every department except graphics.
The one point it has in its favor is that it gave birth to fivem. And even that's backhanded, since fivem didn't waste any time in singlehandedly becoming the worst, most jewish, most oppressive, unacceptly dystopian and corpo'd mod scene you could imagine.
>>
>>743292897
Being able to save cars is actually a welcome idea since GTA IV would give you cool cars as part of the story, but I never want to actually drive them around because there's no way to permanently have access to them. I did notice during my recent playthrough that as you get the cars in the story or doing Brucie's car missions they start spawning in the world anyway so whatever.

People started hating on it because of the Online.
As a game it's, a massive improvement over IV. People love IV for the story and characters, but 90% of missions are repetitive and bland.
R* saw that people loved the bank heist in IV and put more of that type of mission in V, including a rip-off of the armoured truck heist from Heat etc.
There's a lot more variety in the missions, map locations, vehicles etc. compared to IV.
It's still no San Andreas, but it was an improvement over IV in almost every way that matters for a game, the only downside was the more toned-down driving imho.
>>
>>743297781
>No way to permanently access them.
Do you not know how to read? Like one of the first things the game teaches you after showing you nikos first rundown apartment is the white zone outside which acts as your garage.
>>
>>743298203
You can only keep like two cars and one bike, plus if you take it out on a mission and that mission has you take a different car randomly or spawns you far away from where you entered the mission, then you lose that vehicle the moment you drive another one upon mission end. Not the greatest issue considering the cars spawn in the world after you obtain them, but it's still annoying.

IMO the big sin of V is reusing the San Andreas locations and then just blatantly not even fucking attempting to match the scale of San Andreas and just doing 1 city and a really shitty countryside
I genuinely would have even accepted building up to the full map via 2 DLCs ala Gay Tony and TLAD because "muh ache dee game dev is expensive" but of course WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT WENT. GTA Online ensured Rockstar would never again make singleplayer DLC.

It's on the mediocre end of good. It can't be fully bad, but damn the driving is worse, the map is worse, it permanently shifted Rockstar towards live service, and it changes out the simplistic mission design for these hour long cinematic shitfests where you get a game over if you go off script at all.

I really dont understand how you'd rate it over San Andreas or IV. I guess 3 and Vice City are a little more barebones but even then, at least they have fun cars.

Yeah two care PER safehouse and niko can get like half a dozen safehouses.

>decide to finally play this
>go for the platinum
>finish single player and go online
>multiple trophies where I need to play with other people
>invite everyone on the server and wait
>no one ever joins

what the fuuuuck I might be locked out of platinum.. unless anyone wants to play? ;(
>>
there is quite literally nothing to do after you finish the story
>inb4 online
fuck off

My only real problem with GTA V is that driving the cars is SHIT. If you play with a keyboard, you're better off not even playing, honestly. While driving cars and motorcycles in the classic GTA games is perfectly playable and even fun on a keyboard, in GTA V it feels terrible. It's a little better with controllers that have analog sticks, but it's still pretty bad.
They need to fix this in GTA 6. I know it's for accessibility, but they should try to make it accessible while still being at least somewhat satisfying.

What game do you wish GTA copied, driving-wise?
>>
>>743301754
>TBoGT had a genuinely good spanish music station that fit the game's setting well
>the spanish station in GTA5 just has obnoxious garbage meme songs
yet another reason 5 sucks

is teh online actually that fun? like why are kids trapped in it for years
>>
>>743302597
I don't know.
But there are several games where driving the cars is more enjoyable. In Motortown, for example, doing things that are a pain in GTA, like using trucks to tow cars, is fun because of the more complex physics. Things like off-roading are also infinitely more interesting in that game. But the problem is that driving in that game is much less forgiving, and players won't want something like that. So they need to make it more accessible, while still making the cars feel like actual fucking cars, not blocks that you slide across the terrain as if they had no weight, tires, suspension, etc.

Well, I actually like a more realistic approach to driving, too. I like 4 more than 5, but for the reasons that you just mentioned, the cash cow truly is GTA Online and they will optimize for that, which means a more arcade-y implementation. At least on PC, eventually, we could have a little tweak here and there to make things more the way we wish they were.
I hope Rockstar doesn't fuck around and allow the PC version to be as moddable as the previous versions. If the rumors are true and 6 and Online are going to be different products we can rest knowing it's way less likely they will try to lock down 6.

Why the fuck would you play with a keyboard? Plug in a controller you fucking dork.
>>
>>743304280
NTA, but I have a controller, yet have been playing it recently keyboard-only simply because it's clunky to be switching between both of them when I want to shoot and drive. Controlling the aim on a joystick is far worse than driving with a keyboard IMHO

>commit suicide ingame.
>game allow skipping section.

This is why is joked as driving simulator.

Just use gyro to mouse you fucking autist

Never even used that. Dunno if my joystick has it.

It has. Its a Flydigi Apex 4, but it's slow as fuck. Horrible latency.

The map really needed Las Venturas or San Fierro in the north.

GTA 5 was GARBAGE compared to the niggerlicious uncle tom masterpiece of gangster nigger brown perfection that was GTA 3 San Andreas

Los Angeles is a good setting. I'm not really interested in GTA6 because I don't give a fuck about Miami.

Really? I'm not American, but I think Florida Man memes are superb. Cant wait to watch it on YouTube lol

Franklin is cool because he's literally the high IQ black meme and he's surrounded by low IQ nignogs who want to drag him down and keep him in the hood. Franklin is also a good contrast to Michael and Trevor because despite being younger than both of them he's the more wise and rational person.
>>
>>743279168
>we got 1/3 of 3 stories that never really get resolved
2/3 of their story arcs are resolved, though. Franklin is out of the hood and elevated, and Michael has his family back (and if you do the B ending you find out that Tracey is going to college so his kids are also growing up finally). Trevor's story arc is the only one that doesn't really get resolved in any ending and maybe that's what they planned on doing in his DLC before it was scrapped.
>the end of the game is painfully rushed with a literally who bad guy.
Ending C has you take out all the bad guys that you encountered over the course of the game and it ends with you killing Devin Weston who isn't a "literally who" character as you spend many missions dealing with his bullshit. The issue with ending C is that it makes you ask "why didn't they just do this sooner?"

It's just not an interesting city. It's like Las Vegas if you removed the amusement park aspect.
There's no history, it's not scenic, the city is a tall but extremely thin line, the downtown itself is extremely small, there's no interesting history, everything's just kind of a boring latinx monoculture, etc.
The architecture is also extremely uninteresting. I can't think of a single quintessentially "Miami" building, all I can picture are those white mid rise apartment buildings.

It's like an overgrown resort that thinks its glitzier than it really is. It's also stupidly thin. You can drive W-E across the whole thing in 30 minutes or less. Just a really unimpressive city all around, an overgrown resort that can't even really differentiate itself in any meaningful way.
>>
The stealth mechanics were so fucking wonky and the shooting behind cover wasn't nearly as fun as 4.
At least you could save your car from being upended if you flipped it over.

I am playing through gta5 again now for the first time since it launched. In some ways it's better than i remember, and in many ways it's worse. The only reason i am excited for gta6 is because of rdr2, and they seem to make gta6 a lot more like rdr2 than gta5 thankfully. If gta5 was their previous game i wouldn't bother with 6 until it was half off
>>
>>743267354
Sam Andreas had the same plot problem. Being under tht thumb of a corrupt cop, only to go outside, shoot fifty cops, coast into a pay n spray and all is forgiven... Except that one murder this cop has on you.
>>
>>743269390
So?
>>
>>743266360
This game gives me zero hope for any new releases from rockstar. GTA 6 is going to be insufferable online grind with slop mixed in.
>>
>>743266360
>"sandbox" game
>you have to play missions exactly the way devs intended or you fail
not like previous games were good in this aspect but I'd want games getting better not worse
