Unironically, what have they been doing all these years?

How do they have nothing to show for it?
>>
>>743268518
skyrim
>>
>>743268518
Watching porn and not working. Must have been a comfy job
>>
this is what being woke gets you, 0 accountability 0 results
>>

they made starfield and are now working on skyrim 2.

Honestly i think it might be a good thing Queen Jeeta is giving their IP to obsidian for a game and lighting a fire under their ass and firing some of todds friends.
>>
There was some weird side project called Starrealms or something they worked on instead of Elder Scrolls for the last decade for some reason.
>>
They were the leads (despite revisionism) on 76 and Starfield. Their games usually have 4-6 year dev cycles, so in the ten years since 4 they released two games.

Are you stupid OP? Do you need ChatGPT to draw you a diagram?
>>
>>743274925
2 shit flops in a decade, wow
>>
>>743275418
Neither 76 nor Starfield are "flops" by any metric.
>>
>>743274925
It's wild to think that 76 and star field have been their only products after the gigamammoth success of skyrim
>>
>>743274925
F76 was bethesda austin, that they closed anyway.
>>
>>743275516
they sold well based on brand recognition day 1 but they both had huge population fall offs as soon as people played them.

Yes they were flops
>>
>>743275552
>It's wild to think that 76 and star field have been their only products after the gigamammoth success of skyrim
Skyrim came out in 2011, since then
-Fallout 4: 2015
-Fallout Shelter: 2015
-Fallout 76: 2018
-TES Blades: 2020
-Starfield 2023
-TEs Castles: 2024
-Oblivion remastered: 2025
>>
>>743268518
When Xbox was giving out free money to their devs all the companies leadership except apparently Todd all started taking extended vacations.
And Todd only resisted the temptation because Starfield was his longtime dream project.
>>
>>743275610
No, Fallout 76 POSTLAUNCH was Bethesda Austin, along with them helping with the netcode, but things like all the assets on launch, the world, etc, was Maryland. People keep pushing this narrative about it being shit because it was a different studio, but that's not true.
>>
>>743275610
Uhh no? Bethesda Austin still exists you retard.
>>
>>743269719
That kind of job is indeed comfy. I had an IT tech support position at a large office a few years ago and there was so little work to do that I'd spend maybe 1 hour working and the other 7 hours was all vidya and 4chan shitposting.
>>
>>743268518
unironically making shit for 76
>>
>>743275679
The funny thing is nothing's changed from their Morrowind and Oblivion days. Tons of failed mobile games and before that tons of failed smaller games (Battlespire and Redguard).

Bethesda's modus operandi has remained the same as always.
>>
>>743275752
Fallout 76 content is done by Bethesda Austin, not the main Maryland Studio, and some contract studios like Double 11
>>
>>743268518
Starfield released 3 years ago and it's by far one of the best selling games of the generation. How is that nothing?
>>
>>743268518
Embezzlement.
>>
>>743275679
oh god yeah I totally forgot about fallout 4 which was total dogshite too if I remember right

thanks anon
>>
>>743275678
85% of Skyrim players dropped off in the first few months. Thats how single player games go in general.

Between Steam and gamepass there is an estimated over 20K people playing Starfield daily, which is around what Fallout 4 is doing.

There's more people playing Starfield than 99% of the games out there. Even the ones that /v/ loves struggle to keep up the same level of players that Starfield has after 3 years.
>>
>>743268518
>what have they been doing all these years?
Trying to figure out how to better monetize the modding scene.
>>
>>743276136
Ironically Creation Club is not shut down in any way after these layoffs
>>
>>743275838
Because it doesn't matter. Starfield was released after close to a decade of development. Microsoft wants consistent income, not a single payout. Even if we were to be the most generous we possibly could and take Microsoft's statement of "players" as "purchases," 15 million is still anemic compared to what they need, and there are no more sales incoming. Skyrim hit 15 million after like 2 years, and it eventually sold over 60 million. Do you see why it's a problem to have a massive game studio whose only game in the past 11 years was Starfield?
>>
>>743276357
Yeah and Bethesda is their most profitable studio with regular releases since Skyrim. This is why they're getting the push to utilize their IPs more.

-Fallout 4: 2015
-Fallout Shelter: 2015
-Fallout 76: 2018
-TES Blades: 2020
-Starfield 2023
-TES Castles: 2024
-Oblivion remastered: 2025

>Starfield was released after close to a decade of development.
Not him, but this isn't true. After Fallout 4 came out in 2014 Bethesda MAryland pvioted to work on Fallout 76 alongside Bethesda austin. Starfield only started real development after Fallout 76 came out in 2018. It took 5 years. Even then, that was only because Microsoft delayed it a year to give Bethesda an extra year of QA. Really, Starfield was made in 4 years.
>>
>>743268518
Coasting. After Fallout 4, they were burnt out. They probably had most of them been working there for decades, and were tired. As far as I can see, they all decided to sit on their asses. As far as I'm aware a fuckload of Starfield was produced by offshore partners, which tracks, so unless they were hard at work on Elder Scrolls Blades and Elder Scrolls Castles all that time then I'm pretty sure they were doing fucking nothing.
>>
>>743276071
And don't forget, gamepass still has 30 million subscribers even after price hike.
>>
>>743276596
Starfield was developed all inhouse, it's literally impossible to outsource Bethesda games because nobody knows how to use the creation engine since it's proprietary.
>>
>>743276357
>>743276486
And the only game that bethesda made in less than 4 years was Fallout 3, it only took them 18 months because it reused unmodified Oblivion's gamebryo. Every other game had significant engine rehauls.
>>
>>743276643
And that's a good thing.

>>743276528
The core game is made inhouse by around 300-400 staff, consisted of devs and QAs. Only the assets, animation, and rigging are mostly done offshore, that's why they're ugly and inconsistent in quality.
>>
>>743268518
>nothing?

>Only the assets, animation, and rigging are mostly done offshore, that's why they're ugly and inconsistent in quality.
I cannot wait until offshoring is looked at with as much disdain as children getting mushed by lathes and presses. I am so fucking sick of our shit becoming shittier from jeets making it.
>>
>>743277087
Video games require a lot of assets, farming them out to slave studios is a better use of resources than having someone in house making a rock model for 5 years.
>>
>>743277087
going to need a revolution for that. the endermen in charge will never allow anything good to happen again until they are minecrafted

Not happening, the current xbox layoffs everyone here has been celebrating is just a further step toward normalizing it.

we're getting dangerously close to territory were NEETS have an objectively higher QoL than wagies

As someone that thinks of himself privately as a patriot, I do think it is necessary. Both parties are co-opted, so the system cannot be reformed without some form of violence. It is inevitable.
>>
>>743277227
I disagree. Unless an American cannot do it then an American should do it. It could be a better use of resources allowing no employees to sleep. They still have to do it due to the law. The same should be true of these businesses.
>>
>>743277506
Yeah I already knew this one was happening. But to be fair, I even knew it when I saw the new chick was a jeet. They will only ever hire more jeets. They'll say whatever they have to to make it sound politically acceptable, but that's all it ever will be.

Hurt their reputation more than anything. Same with 76.

You can develop a game of any scale quickly if you have a clear idea of what you want to do. They don't know.

You factually can't.
