i don't see this topic being talked enough, majority of the gaming sphere is busy focusing on linear story one and done cinematic "experiences" or eternal GaaS online treadmills curated by engagement algorithms and microtransactions

what about old school time wasters like DMC? where you'd spend hours trying to get that perfect S run like an idiot but damn did it feel good
or old school Monster Hunter where finally "downloading" that G rank motherfucker meant you could start farming their ass and treating it like your little bitch
or even old school fighting games with those long ass arcade modes where you could endlessly play against the CPU and feel no need to deal with online players

do we still have those games out there? or is that ear of gaming gone and relegated to emulators and old consoles/pc ports? i remember this old PSP (hacked) game called Gundam v Gundam Next Plus, shit was awesome bc it was an actual arcade game port so it was literally built to be a forever loop
