It's res was 6x to 12x higher than standard for the time. Which reduced it's large performace leap over previous gen. That was very bad, but games on it made up for that degenerate design flaw.
XBOX 360 is still the best way to play Fallout 3 and New Vegas unironically. Sure you don't get 60fps but they're the most stable versions.

The employees either had no clue to check it or didn't give a shit because of all the heat Microsoft was taking. The downside was pirating all the games needed dual layer discs and tons of iso checks for certain flags to make sure you didn't get banned on xbl every November right before the new halo or cod hit.You zoomers don't know how lucky you have it with softmods now a days.

It was a great console, but people look at the 360 with rose color glasses. Its hardware was shit, paid online, on disk dlc, multiplayer passes, and other shit we still deal with today. Also while there was a lot of great games on it there was also a ton of piss yellow dogshit 3rd person shooter shovelware and many genres and Japanese franchises were considered prematurely dead at the time. Some of the best games of the era like Dead Space and Mirrors Edge were considered under performers and devs had to waste time putting in multiplayer in everything because execs thought single player was dead. Looking back I think gen 8 was a lot better for gaming as a whole despite some of my favorite games were on the 360.

It was always the Rock Band machine for me. Lotta fond memories playing those games and Guitar Hero with friends. Kinda sucks you can't really play those games anymore on newer consoles
