The dream world in Lovecraft is an actual place. Bloodborne is kind of similar, but the game also establishes itself as a very dreamlike experience right from the get-go. It's even more on the nose when you enter the Hunter's Dream and see an infinite amount of pillars that exist, an infinite amount of dreams, but it's still a place you can go to and exist in. "It was all a dream" in the context of Lovecraft and Bloodborne doesn't mean it's something we only imagined and thus wasn't real, meaningful or dangerous.
