Ageeed. I even like all the story changes. They actually make the story more coherent and more in line with later entries.
But some of the quests are just jank, like that Syra quest or the revamped Stone quest.
I am waiting for Gothic 2 remake.

Gothic 2 remake when?
I do hope how they will remake it, because there is a potential for a cool story here. I hope they will clean up the story a bit, because the story in G2 is a bit of a clusterfuck when you think about it.

Define "beefy"? I ran the game on RTX 4090 and didn't have any issues with it whatsoever.
And yes, dark places are a feature, not a bug. The night is supposed to be dark and full of terrors to force you to use the torch of Light spell.

Armor is a status symbol so you won't get it unless you join a camp but you can find decent weapons laying around.

There are few armors that you can technically get for free by just exploring, like Xardas's robe or the royal guard armor.
Granted, getting through those enemy mobs to get those armors at level 1-2 is a fucking challenge, but they are *technically* free.
