8.1 solved many flaws of 8. If you could make peace with the fugly metro menu it was a pretty lightweight system. People praising 7 forget how resource heavy the GUI was. 8.1 GUI was a fraction of that. I was glad that 10 retained that, even if there were still room for improvements, which got all thrown out the window(s) with 11.
