Crimson Desert is genuinely great but it has a shoddy story. It perfectly exposes that 90% of the gaming audience sees gameplay as a bothersome hindrance to get to more narrative/cutscenes.

I do not get why people get so invested in this game that they feel they have to defend genuine weak points of a this game that most people (even the ones that really like it) bring up. I don't even think the game is bad per se. I just think the devs made a bunch of bad decisions that make the final product worse than it should've been. From what I'm gathering, they're more oriented towards working on MMOs and while free-roam sandbox games like this do have a lot in common with MMOs, they also should be have a good motivation to play it past the mechanics and exploration. Give the player a reason to get invested in it. I don't know why the average /v/ user is so incapable of nuance, in terms of the pros and antis of this game. It's not that great and other games do what it does better but it's not outright horrible like some people would have you believe. It's literally a 6/10 game through and through.
