The Spellslinger set you can find in act 1 gives a fuckton of spellpower and you can find 3 different staves that gives big bonuses to get a pyromancy, electromage, or just spam out a lot of powerful and cheap spells forever. Act 2 can net you the battlemage spell and abuse the mana shield stat to be near indestructible.

Summoning is fun.The expansion is a completely different area (under the sea) but meant to be played in Act 2, it gives you 3 new skill trees active in the mainworld too, and all sorts of good equipment. It's very comfy too. Enemies are leveled so you can play it on and off, but playing it after endgame makes not much sense.
