Appreciate the announcement, Op. Waited years for the "any day now" announcement, glad something is happening. Enjoyed the game but could never recommend it after they refused to come in on a Saturday to upload the old patch for the game because of Clockwork Empires, then that fell apart and they just never did anything.

Idk if anyone else found this, but I was able to lag the game heavily through I think blood magic, golemancy and another class's spell which is a purple smoke ape. It let me attack as many times as I wanted by just spam clicking the attack buttons. The enemies wouldn't be able to take their turn until I stopped spam clicking. Was a very interesting run but couldn't kill dredmor with it for some reason.

Fleshsmithing is great. That rogue tree with five finger discount etc has very powerful stuff. The tree with guy in armour is good. A lot of other good stuff but cba to type.
Basically simplest is to get some kind of a ranged attack and means to spam it (mana or whatever), and then fill up with defensive stats and QOL (invis, healing etc from potions or shrooms etc)

I replay this shit like every year. I knew they'd be back when I signed up for that newsletter. It still manages to get a laugh out of me each playthrough from a dumb item description or two. Now they just need to fix the UI-scaling, and maybe drop an expansion (or better yet a sequel)

BUT crits bypass all defense checks so if the attacker rolls a crit there's no countering and you just get clapped. Damned if I could tell you the actual specific math behind any of it though, not like Dredmor gives us a useful combat log sadly. Something like that. I think it is like a dodge check first, then block check, then if those fail absorption + resistances.

Right now I'm doing a playthrough of Dodge+Counter+Sword and boy if you max all of those out, it's really good up until level 11-12 when you start failing to dodge.Encrusting shoes works a fair bit, same with encrusting armour with Nimbleness.

I can't help myself from picking the flame spell skill tree almost every run. It's just such an easy way to deal with the monster zoo rooms, or bigger enemy groups in general.

I love being a vegan because you get some crazy buffs from it and get to ignore a lot of enemies. it's a little annoying until you get that first skill point and can get the ability to make animals friendly because until then they keep crowding around you and trapping you. plus there's a lot of ways to get around the no animal violence rule, like you can take clockwork knight and for some reason using the fucking rocket punch doesn't count as harming them lmao

I tend to stick by the monster zoo to plop down the fire traps while the summon handles the rest. Mana regen is handled either by blood magic or feylines.

I have only killed him twice (i think, maybe more) since I don't really know what to build for to kill him easily, but some melee stuff, it was years ago I don't remember exactly what. I think I had a mirror shield (the dark one) and had a bunch of stuff I smithed
