Can someone explain to me why ball and gun gamers also love to collect expensive basketball shoes? My at the time 19 year old nephew was in this phase where he had his whole room filled with shoes hung on the wall. The only games he played were Apex Legends and NBA2k. He went to college and admits now the shoe collecting was retarded and doesnt play vidya anymore.

Multiplayer gamers and singleplayer gamers always were kinda seperate groups, basically going back all the way to when arcades were still a thing. There's obviously some overlap but there've always been a majority who's pretty much exclusively one of the two and doesn't give a single shit about the other.
