I don't want to be annoying but when Flowery said the blue-and-pink drink and then called Ralsei a "princess" it immediately sunk in that ch5 was the sloppiestly written chapter by far. What I mean by that is they were just really un-careful with the script relative to the previous chapters. This also goes for stuff like having by far the most fandom/community jokes in the Darkner dialog. At times ch5 was something between self-parody and fangame. I'm not strictly and life-or-death against trans Ralsei IF that was Toby's vision, but the reason I believe it is not, is because if this scene is supposed to be a pink flag, it means ch5 as a whole is written way worse than if it is not a pink flag. Like for example, you can only fight MewMew AFTER this scene, and in that fight Ralsei gets a spell called Lovely Boy. And Ralsei is not like uncomfortable in that fight or anything, he is confidently laying down how things need to be with Maddie. And then he is casting magic about how he's a boy, and his irl plushie shows up. How can you possibly justify that if Ralsei is trans-foreshadowed? Like forget about if you hate le tranners. It'd just be sloppy writing!Or what about when Flowery calls the whole team princesses? Am I somehow supposed to read that as Flowery she/him-ing Ralsei but also KRIS? I mean, no fucking way! It's a diminutive term Flowery uses because he's an anime guy and he is mocking the team. I know I'm preaching to the choir on fucking /v/ but the ticket scene is like the epitome of my disappointment with chapter 5. I know this is probably not true but it does unironically feel like the "B team chapter". Just finished the mew mew fight and I don't think I have ever cringed harder at a toby fox character then I have at mew mew, it was so abysmally dogshit I had to run big shot remixes and the world revolving in the background on yt while I was fighting.
