So basically I want to have as much as possible rewards from the good ending *route* but not the *ending* itself. From what I gather, the final step is to fight Atman, so can I just skip fighting him? I think I kinda botched the first step (obtaining the grail from one of the kids from rats' hideout), but maybe I can still salvage this.

The story of Shadow Hearts 2 confirms the bad ending of Shadow Hearts 1 is canon. But the ending of Shadow Hearts 2 has Yuri time traveling to the start of Shadow Hearts 1, retaining his full power and experiences , thus giving him a big advantage especially when it comes to Seraphic Radiance. I fully believe that Yuri, with his power and memories, can prevent himself from going insane and not linking Alice to the Graveyard, thus making the the noncanon ending of Shadow Hearts 1 canon.

Yeah, I know about that, thanks for reminding me haha. It's exactly why I want to unlock the bad ending first, but with all the rewards from masks' battle (and maybe Atman's, if possible) from the good ending route.

Shadow hearts was phenomenal, till this day I never played a game where the bad ending was canon in the first game only for the sequel reverse it and helps the mc achieve the "good" ending
