I heard anons say a few months ago that Galley House is a Roottrees Are Dead-tier game, is that true? I'm much more hesitant to buy puzzle games blindly after how dogshit Blue Prince was.Are the games in the Steam bundle (TR-49 and Dimhaven - The Lost Source) any good?
What puzzle games do you like? I mostly play Sokoban ones but I've been thinking of getting into 3d puzzlers
>>743307434I adore anything Zachtronics. The games feel like programming puzzles (and sometimes involve actual programming, like in TIS-100 and Shenzhen I/O) in that they are very open-ended and you can optimise your solutions. Opus Magnum is probably the most beginner-friendly, but if you want 3D specifically, then try Infinifactory. If you want more traditional puzzle games, then go for Obra Dinn, it's the gold standard. Roottrees is also fantastic, and Golden Idol is pretty good too. Avoid Blue Prince; hiding puzzles behind RNG is perhaps the most baffling and frustrating game design choice I've ever seen.
>>743307260It's a remake of a browser game, same as Roottrees, so it should be pretty good. I'm waiting for mermaid mask to release so I can buy both at once. TR-49 is kinda fun, nothing outstanding but a decent ~5 hours game, never heard of the other one though.
>>743307843Yea I was thinking something like the witness or things like Myst. Obra Dinn always seemed cool but it seems like a short once and done game, so I was hesitant. Blue Prince got really popular with normalfags so I planned to avoid it anyway. A roguelike puzzle game just seems retarded
>>743307260Haven't played this one yet but I've been looking forward to it, the original is on par with Roottrees but pretty differentAs far as Roottrees clones go I just finished A Case of Fraud earlier today, that was decent though much shorter>>743309156Obra Dinn is definitely worth itTry Outer Worlds too
>>743307260>Roottrees Are Dead-tierIs that game good? The Steam icon being a photo of 3 women never inspired much confidence in me.Also, Order of the Sinking Star has a demo on Steam right now, it's long and pretty good. Try Dittori, too.
>>743310291Yeah it's good, basically started an entire deduction game subgenreIf it helps, the three women in the cover art are, as the name suggests, all dead
The original Type Help is better and it’s free
>>743310132>Outer Worlds*Outer Wilds
>>743310132Outer Wilds isn’t a deduction game >>743310291Order of the Sinking Star is a garbage puzzle game
>>743310489Yeah that's the one, thanksI even thought to myself "fuck, which one was which, it must be 'Worlds' because it has different planets right?" before posting>>743310632Well that anon was asking for 3D puzzlers like Myst and Myst isn't exactly a deduction game either
>>743307843Opus Magnum is indeed really good. Finished De Re Metallica a few days ago.Never got into any other Zachtronics games, though. I guess I could try now since I have a job with a printer.
>>743310632>Order of the Sinking Star is a garbage puzzle gameActually, it's a really good puzzle game.
>>743310747I struggle to call Outer Wilds a puzzle game, too. It's actually more of a deduction game than a puzzler since all the progression revolves around finding knowledge about where things are and what to do with them.
>>743309156>mermaid mask This game somehow feels even more tumblr than Stephen Universe.
>>743310747>>743311156Outer Wilds isn’t a deduction or puzzle game. It’s actually a Zelda like as the dev mentioned himself.
