Normies don't want high stakes games. That's why fighting games and RTS games have been niche for so long and now extraction shooters fit that mold. You either focus on the players that enjoy the challenge or you heavily casualise the genre like Arc Raiders did. From what I've seen from Marathon it leans on PVP and on a game where you lose everything on death that's a big no-no for retards that can't even handle losing on casual shit like hero shooters which force a 50/50 winrate.

I don't have it in me to play multiplayer games anymore. Much prefer slower, story-driven RPGs and action/adventure games. Played BF6 for 30 hours last year and felt like that was enough to last me years.
