>NCR ranger armor is the best looking armor in the game>the NCR are also effectively the lamest and least interesting faction in the gameAny other examples of this??
I never bothered using any rep armors since the disguise aspect always threw me off
>>743318726Thought it looked gay honestly, I preferred T-51b power armor
>>743318726Just kill them and take their drip?
the helmet is cool because it actually looks useful for the desert and exploring shitholes. didn't care the rest of the outfit.
>>743318726They're bland technocrats. What do you want? They would be the ones who can hire, train, and equip, and elite squad of murderers. You can always wear the non-faction version that appears in the DLCs.
>>743319147>the helmet is cool because it actually looks useful for the desert and exploring shitholes. You would die of heat stroke if you wore one. The only way Power Armor works is because it also has built in AC systems. A real life ranger would not wear the full on gas mask unless they needed to. Probably have the gas-mask slung around their shoulder. Remember, this is LAPD RIOT gear that they co-opted after finding a large cache of them. This is meant for short term usage, of wading through crowds full of tear-gas at night. Hense the gas-mask and the night vision. >>743318726Also funny happenstance:They more or less wanted the Courier Duster from Lonesome Road to be the official look of the main character from there on out. But:1. It is end-game content. 2. Most people prefer Riot gear instead. 3. The NCR Ranger is on the cover.4. The player could be anything, meaning it's best to put a mask on them. Is Courier 6 as asian lady or a black dude? Who knows! 5. The duster and Ulysses are lame.
>>743318726>faction that started as a small farming community >worked its way up to be regional power>is now expanding to its own detriment >consists of a number of different groups which all have their own subculture and ideals>least interesting
>>743319476Duster was completely set up for failure by having it not just be sleeveless, but the type of sleeveless coat done by a homeless man who cut the arms off of it with a rusty knife he found in the dumpster.Give it some better texturing and some sort of underlayer on the arms with a more natural rolled up duster sleeve look and it would have been cool.
>>743318726>Make the coolest looking character with the swagger of a samurai>But also make him a deeply closeted homosexualFUCKING WHY?!?
>>743318726>ranger armor designed for spec ops missions in the desert>thick leather and denim fully covering legs and arms>gas mask helmet obstructing your breathing and turning your head into an ovenHow do the desert rangers just not immediately keel over and die from heat stroke?
>>743320563The effects of nuclear winter probably cooled down the Mojave a bit.
>>743320628>this anon just completely forgets the 'patrolling the mojave makes you wish blah blah' memeNGMI
>>743318726ermm but that's desert ranger armer, not traditional ncr armor
>>743320180He’s a deeply closeted homosexual?
>>743320563In real life, desert combat uniforms are typically made of lightweight nylon-cotton blends to be breathable and also sweat-absorbing, while also being loose-fitting for breathability. They're also lighter colors to reflect sunlight. Also, none of them wear gas masks, and a lot of the time they're not even wearing a helmet because helmets cook your brain. Contrast this to the NCR's desert rangers and they are wearing darker colors that will absorb sunlight and get much hotter much quicker, while also being thick leathers and denim. They seem to wear the gas mask and helmet 24/7 which will also cook them. I could see them having some kind of respirator as part of their kit and goggles for sandstorms, but they would not be wearing it 24/7. In real life, the rangers guarding Kimball during his speech would have fainted from heatstroke ala that one British royal guard. The Legion is better suited for the heat, as much as people like to joke about the skirt-wearing, skirts would be insanely breathable; they also all wear simple t-shirts. They also wear goggles but no respirator, so no impact on their breathing, but still protected during sandstorms. They'd suffer from a lot of sunburns and skin cancer but a lot of Legion soldiers are either African or extremely tanned, so sunburns are not that likely, and they most likely will die before developing skin cancer.
>>743320986Of course not, who told you he was gay?
>>743318726power armour in general. you dont get it until the end and it sucks anyway. the brotherhood is also tucked away
>>743321173okay and now a hulking fucking mutant attacks you in your skirt and hockey pads
>>743318726>b-b-buh they have taxes and... uuuuuhhh..
>>743318726leather armor + desperado cowboy hat + authority shades is arguably more kino
>>743322498>heh. imagine paying taxes to some foreign authority you never get to see? >Oh yes, Mr. Cesear, I will pay tribute to you and follow your arbitrary authority.>Mr. House? Why yes yes I will pay upwards of 50% taxes on the strip. I'm a good employee!
>>743321474I don't know how intention it is, but they REALLY liked light armor and gave you tons of options and amazing perks that require you to use it. Light Armor niggas are faster, harder to hit, and have a higher crit rate. What's not to love? It doesn't stop you from getting an armor implant and 2 rounds of Toughness, so you have 3x4=12 DT right out the bat even if you're god damn NUDE. That's without any chems or booze as well which can add DT or even DR.
>>743318726Let's look at the other factions:>gay melting pot wearing skirts and football pads and raping random tribes>technoschizos who get really really mad when anyone but them is allowed to own a toaster or lightbulb>douchefag prisoners who like dynamite because XD>irrelevant small towns>walt disney and andrew ryan's dna-merged clone lording over a single road in Vegas with some robots and a couple primitive tribes that got turned into wacky casino stereotypes
>>743318726I only wear sunglasses and no clothes or armor.
>>743320563Stealth Suit has a built in air conditioner
>>743318726overrated, not even the best NCR armor which is the Ranger Patrol.
>femboys when they hit 30
>>743321579Ranger armor wouldn't protect you from that either. Also the Legion is capable of wiping out the Brotherhood on their own, people in power armor
>>743318726The NCR are the most lame faction, yet certainly not the least interesting
>>743322498They recruit naive NCR citizens, give them two weeks of training and ship them off to be captured by Legion and or be flayed alive by fiends.
>>743318726I really hate how the bottom half of the armor looks, at least the stronger versions of riot gear look a bit more armored up
If it makes any difference, the rangers are basically their own mini faction within the NCR since they were originally the Arizona Rangers (a nod to the Wasteland game that inspired Fallout) and simply joined them out of mutual interest.
>>743319476>You would die of heat stroke if you wore one.man look at these guys, they must have all gotten heat stroke
>>743325652>thin cotten thobes VS. a leather trench coat, a gas mask, and jeanshmmmmmm
>>743325652Their faith in Allah keeps them cool.
>>743325037>recruit*conscript at gunpoint
>>743318726ww2
>>743325319It really doesn't.
Why would you ever side with any faction over just siding with yourself?
>>743318726>NCR are also effectively the lamest and least interesting faction in the gameNot true in the slightest.
>>743325319You're a dumbfuck who doesn't know the lore. The Desert Rangers (the ones you are thinking of) were in Nevada and a small sliver of Arizona, fighting off the Legion and other slavers, they lost majorly and decided to join the NCR's Rangers. The NCR had its own ranger organization for decades before the Desert Ranger guys joined.
>>743318726I think they're more interesting than Caesar's Legion
>>743318726Tbis armour still goes hard
>>743319476I think it's more thematically appropriate if the Courier takes on Randall Clark's armor. Not only does it obscure the character in every way you just described, but they can just as easily be>Good Courier who tries to act as a guiding hand in the world>Neutral Courier who read the man's story and wears his gear, possibly out of respect, possibly necessity>Evil Courier who is now even more evil because he's taken this symbol of hope and corrupts it, associating it with bad deeds
