I just tried to watch one of these for Dark Souls and the video was 57m long and titles sumfin like>The complete story of Dark SoulsAnd the thumbnail's like>Popular theory debunkedIt's some european guy rambling about what some japanese translations meant and how that debunks some individual lore theories, and then he rambles on about what each line a character says meant. He never actually seems to just explain what the linear story is, or what it matters.Bloodborne has a few good ones not of the VaatiVidya sort, where they actually go through the story pretty beat for beat, and then also add some interpretation over it. There's pretty dumb and straightforward ones, and a really amazing one where he compares it to its source material of Victorian Era medical revolution, and compares the game to the experience of an author who underwent Tuberculosis surgery, and honestly a lot of the details add up. I think he fixates on it too much in the end, a bit like that Ocarina of Time Is a Masterclass in Subtext video where everything's incredible except for the conclusion that it somehow makes the game "The saddest Zelda game ever made" or some shit.like, I agree with everything in the lore video about Bloodborne being inspired by the writings of various authors in the 1800s and the artworks of 1800s medical industrialization. That is 100% what the Healing Church concept is about, and Miyazaki's thoughts throughout the story about achieving "arcane knowledge" vs being primitive and beastlike totally comes back to him basically saying that for as amazing as science and man-made projects of evolutions are, we're ultimately just staring into the void as humans, because what's "out there" in the cosmos is similar to what atoms are inside the body, and the search for something more true than just being able to perceive and exist is futile, pretentious, and that science equals madness and stupidity, because on the inside we're still primal and simple.
