Back in the day this boss used to make people uninstall the game and claimed Fromsoft is making bosses to hard.
I played Elden ring before palying dark souls 3 so once I fight him for the first time I was pretty dissapointed.
Midir is such a stiff and easy telegraphed boss I was surprised someone could get hit by him. Also his healthbar is nothing extraordiary, if you think this boss has too much health then your build is trash.
Same story with Friede and nameless king, these bosses are so unbelieveable easy compared to the absolute insanity of Elden Ring bosses, I guess the community used to be a lot worse in terms of skill back then.

Midir was the first dragon boss in souls games that actively punished you for chipping away at his ankles and encouraged you to face it head on and attack his head for massive damage. It took me about 4 attempts before I realized that and immediately started kicking his ass. Every person I've seen play through the Ringed City stubbornly sticks to his legs and rages out when they get bathed in flame instead of considering a different strategy.

You can see this type of thinking in the early months of Elden Ring where a loud sect of the playerbase refuse to interface with guard counters, jumping, or ashes of war and raged about Margit not letting them mindlessly roll at the slightest hint of movement from the boss. People get so wrapped up in "what souls games are like" that they actively harm their own potential and fun levels by refusing to acknowledge that there's more to the game than circle strafing and dodge rolling on reaction.

Sinh did that first by breaking your shit if you hit anywhere but the head. But I guess people just brute forced that with repair powder or Santier's Spear.

Midir is UGLY
UGLY DRAGON

To be fair, Fromsoft really doubled down on their Dragon game design and severely punished the player for not fighting Dragons like they are supposed to.

I keep waiting for From Shitware games to git gud. but they never do. I miss the pre-Memeaslopi days when they made interesting 7/10's instead of progressively worse Demon's Souls clones.

every boss in these games has an easy mode strat. most people do not discover it because they find one method that works good enough and stick to it.

Alright so when you make games you need to essentially cover a wide audience of people in order to make a profit. You have the super good players like you and me who can essentially think ahead and pre position to dodge attacks with ease. Meanwhile there's also players that dont really get the concept of positioning or moving. All they know is they can spam the dodge button for the iframes and avoid attacks. The problem is those people never learn how to position properly or adjust loadouts. They think everything needs you to "git good" by dodging better but what they dont realize is they have a whole sandbox they can utilize and builds they can make. They commit to the same loadout until they beat the game. So thats why some of these games feel like they are easy because you essentially mastered the game you understand how to build and you understand your strengths and weaknesses. There are people out there who dont even know how to read clocks and game developers have to design games around those people in order to make more of a profit.

It always happens with Souls games. You get more skilled and the previous entry seems like a joke after playing the next one. I played DS3 with a friend around 8 years ago and he struggled a lot, we've been replaying it recently and literally nothing can even touch him. Just got gud in Elden Ring and other Souls games, nothing complicated about it.

i've only played DS1, bloodborne and elden ring and yeah, elden ring is in another universe compared to those other two in terms of boss difficulty. i platinumed bloodborne and had fun doing it (bloody crow is my favorite fight) but a few bosses in elden ring had me in a state of pure frustration where i just wanted the fight to be over so i could move on. the only time this happened to me in BB was NG+ laurence. From clearly know how the average shitter (me) plays their games and have designed around it. i've not beat DS1 yet but the first 10 hours or so have been quite easy after playing BB and ER first. the enemies and bosses dont feel overtuned and a few distant archers sailing slow moving arrows at you constitutes a moderate "oh shit" moment. i'm sure it will ramp up as i go further into the game, but even limgrave has ambushes that make the ones in early DS1 look like amateur hour. for the record, i greatly appreciate this. at this point i want to appreciate the atmosphere and level design more than push my souls skills. if i wanted to do that, i'd play shadow of the erdtree, which i found to be way too hard and bordering on obnoxious - i just dont think i can git that gud

It's not a larp, fighting dark souls 3 bosses after playing elden ring is like fighting a geriatric granpa with dementia.
