I want to enjoy it but I don't see the appeal, I am so lost>starting zone>wide open area>ask someone for tips on how to start>"kill shit, collect loot, kill bosses">run around everywhere>no mount so it takes forever>gate is blocked by a huge troll boss and a bunch of archers that instantly kill me>spend an hour killing all these knights just so I could 1v1 the bigger knight without 50 guys attacking me>none of them drop anything>the big guy drops a helmet and that's it>everything else is 100x levels above me and 1 shots me>still no new weapons or anything yet>get gangraped by mobs in 2 seconds>other players just come out of nowhere and kill me tooI've been playing for 4 hours and I'm still in the starting zone. Also the problem with this game is it's built around wiki, and it's not for the lack of pointers per se, but because it locks you out of a good portion of the game if you progressed in the "wrong way", so you can't just keep on exploring and get stuff done. There's no way to even know if you've missed an NPC with insane questline or some random weapon, and having this feeling constantly bug me is just not something I wanna deal with while playing a video game.

This game has 2 filters to it.#1 is the IQ filter. If you have low IQ you are going to suffer big time because pattern recognition is very important for the game. Also perception is important, if you are the sort of guy who fails "spot checks" irl then you are gonna have a bad time.#2 filter is perseverance, you need the personality to be able to keep going and even enjoy yourself when you are having a tough time. #2 can help make up for a lack of #1.The game is absolutely not for lowest common denominator though, the dummies are the ones who get filtered.

Elden Ring would've been better if it was just interconnected dungeons like the other dark souls games, or if they open world was about 70% smaller.
