It wasn't but it had it's moments and first-time raiding with friends or even randos on mic was a fairly unique experience that sadly no other games (that I know of) replicate.
Is it worth sinking thousands of hours into endless grind for? No, but for some burts of fun and looting and shooting aliens with other guys it was awesome and Bungie gutting it like they did is just sad.

There is and has not been another single game on the market that has managed to actually have as good and smooth gunplay as Destiny 1 or 2, nothing even remotely close. Couple that with the Space Magic combined with sed gunplay, you have an extremely unique and polished system.
In D1 or D2 you can just go drop into any random activity to this day and shoot aliens in the face and it's fun as fuck and satisfying.

That alone is the reason people continue to play all these years despite the horrific management and monetization
