Why do people talk about this all the time but they never actually use it and just buy stuff on Steam?
>>

When I buy a game, I always check GOG first. If it's there, I buy it there. If not, I buy it from Steam.
>>
Steamdrones are terminal
>>
>>743329767
I use GOG and have almost 50 games from them.
>>
Steam has the trust of consumers. even if something bad happens, you could just download your whole library and crack the drm with this https://github.com/inflation/goldberg_emulator
>>
Cuz I can buy games on Steam and crack them so I have DRM-free backups, but still own them on Steam with all the benefits that entails. Only games worth buying off GOG are the games in their preservation program they fix up.

I thought that GOG was a piracy site for years and had no idea its a legit site where people BUY games
>>
>>743329767
I own about 300 games from GOG though.

Because most users like the steam client and how it makes everything easily available and kept up to date. Anti-steamies fail to understand this and seem to be under the impression that people dislike the steam launcher

yo bro let me borrow one

Because /v/ is full of lying browns. Nobody buys on GOG because it's a worse service across the board.
>muh DRM free
Literally the only games that it's superior on that metric are easily Goldberg haxed. The process of buying, downloading, and installing games is dramatically worse than Steam, which is why only dumb faggots use GOG for anything available on both.
Does GOG have some stuff that Steam doesn't? Absolutely. Despite being a shitty store, it's your best option in those edge cases. But otherwise, you have to be retarded to not buy on Steam.

I will buy games on any platform but if I plan to play it on my Steam Deck then I'm more likely to buy it on Steam because GOG Galaxy still isn't on Linux and I really don't like the Heroic Launcher.
I know they've announced plans to support Linux so when that happens I'll buy most of my games from GOG.

Incorrect, they've often got games cheaper than steam and they offer better ports where the steam version has DRM for no reason like the resident evil games.

>where the steam version has DRM for no reason like the resident evil games.
to be fair, that's capcom's fault. who knows what the fuck they were thinking with games this old.
>>
Because it doesn't have all the games I want

Steam is just better. Seeing who founded GOG, and the people who shill it is a bigger turn off than how shitty the UI is. Steam has features I actually use with the overlay, friends, library, mods, discussions, news, etc. Yes I actually use them, all of them. I even use the bets feature calendar because I enjoy little things like that. Steam can install my games from my phone when I'm away, has a buyer only review system, is fully transparent, good refund system, and genuinely the most consumer friendly in the entire industry. No that doesn't mean a corpo is your friend, but they're still leagues better than all competition combined.

They made some statement a few months ago that they are gonna start focusing on linux.

It's not very intuitive to use, and it doesn't get your attention like Steam does.
They really need to improve the UI
