There was a spike during 6th gen of hostilities mostly due the flood of attempted competition systems dying(Sega, Turbo 16, Jaguar, NeoGEo, 3DOect) and the two up and coming companies cemented in as the staying forces with Nintendo (MS and Sony) This made fights break out every easy and tribalism was a thing.
