I’m well past the second part of this game and I just don’t understand the appeal. It’s not enjoyable and it doesn’t have ANYTHING backing it up. I really want to like this game, but I’ve been playing it for like 14 or so hours and there hasn’t been any points where I actually liked it (outside of a few). I really want to like this game but outside of the OST, there isn’t much to like.>characters are uninteresting, don’t have any struggle or motive that the player can relate to. Very shallow in general>visuals are uninteresting for the most part. Colors are very washed out>combat is serviceable but gets extremely repetitive >side quests are mind numbing>main quests are mind numbing>overworld is bland>story is extremely generic>dialogue is for the most part uninteresting, generic, etc.>general gameplay loop is garbageAm I just filtered or is the game genuinely this bad? Is it because I’m plying the remake? I’m at the part where I had to go to the junk heap and the forest to get the stones for the shadowlords castle.
Keep playing
Bump
>>743334301>I don't understand the appeal>I want to like itHow many of these threads have you made today?
>>743335975None.
>>743336051So the fact I saw the same lines in the OP of an Elden Ring thread was just a coincidence?Fine. I'll say what I said there. Don't worry about it. Why do you want to like it?
>>743336209I have about 200 hours on Elden Ring lmao. That wasn’t me.I wanna like this game because of a friend that recommended it to me. Aesthetically, the game is interesting. The OST is fucking amazing. It’s just that so far, the game isn’t clicking with me.
>>743336659Other than what you've seen there's not going to be any more appeal other than side quest endings ,the finale, which is both a lore dump and a trauma dump, and the reframing you get on subsequent playthroughs. Keep playing if you want but keep in mind I love the game and even I couldn't bring myself to see it through to ending E
>>743337191Why do you personally love the game? Are the other endings worth seeing?
It's a shit game because Yoko Taro sucks at making games but his games are unique. If you don't like it, then stop playing. Simple as.
>>743334301This ain't the game for you lil bro you should just drop it. You gotta play the second part at least 3 times (you can save scum ending c and d) and then the first part again up till the aerie to get all the endings btw.
>>743337290I love the music, and I'm a sucker for tragedies. I'd say A and B are if you're interested in the story. C and D don't really add anything to the main plot IIRC but you might like them if you're invested in the characters. I'm pretty sure E is supposed to be backstory for Automata but like I said, I gave up before then.
>>743337598I love tragedies, hell, Berserk is one of my favorite “things” of all time. There hasn’t really been anything tragic that’s happened in the story thus far. Maybe Emil, but that was resolved in like 5 minutes. As for Yohnah, I think it’d be more impactful if we knew anything about her, or had connections to her at some point in the game. But we barely see her. There’s no reason for me to inherently care about her. Am I just too early into the story?
>>743337413Funny you say that, because this game is extremely generic. Everything that has come in the story so far has been predictable. It has so many tropes.
>>743337931Yeah, you're too early. It'll all hit during the finale
>>743338037Sure, the story beats aren't unique but his games have a certain mood to them that other games don't have. I especially hate the dialogue in Replicant and found myself laughing at important scenes because it's all so corny.
>>743334301successfully filtered from unaltered kinogo back to fortnite
>>743334301Two things1 Drop the Demake and go play the original2 It gets good when you start ending C so you have to keep playing
>>743334301Good, quit the game and leave. We had this exact same thread yesterday, I'm guessing that was also you.
>>743338592>>743338604This. TND
>>743338592>go play the originalWhy would you wish that on anyone? Papa Nier and the original's soundtrack were kino but the combat was kuso. You also miss out on all the new content that was cut for time/budget reasons (and only readable in Grimoire NieR) such as Louise and Route E where you play as Kaine. Just stop being a NiggeR.
shades are actually humans btw
>>743338451>>743338592Yeah I think I’m just in a bad place to vidya. My brain is fried. I’ll drop it for now and play it again in a week or two. I’ll play the original.
>>743338872>I’ll play the original. You will never fight a giant mermaid boss and play as Kaine.
>>743338720Surely the soundtrack, and even Papa have been modded into Replicant by now
>>743338729The fact that they drop schoolbooks and shit is kino.
>>743338592>>743338872The original is borderline objectively worse especially in regards to story and pacing.
>>743339036you can play as papa nier during the dream diary shit at least dunno if anyone ever made a mod
>>743334301incredibly overrated game that has nothing going on besides music
>>743339036>PapaWhy? He'd still have the brother's voice.
I still think of baine when I hear papa nier
Replicant >>> AutomataI love my wife Kainé
>>743339151Rip the audio out of Gestalt I guess
>>743339341Why is she so sexy?!
The combat is too slow. They should have sped it way up for the rerelease.
>>743338872>I’ll play the originaldon't ever listen to retardsi've played gestalt, replicant and remakeand without a doubt, the remake is better and ties better with automata
>>743339623is like saying "dark souls is too slow compared to bloodborne"yeah not shit, that's why Automata is the faster sibling.
>>743339227baine?
>>743339341That's a man
>>743339741yea but it's not slow for a purpose it is just too easy because nothing comes at you fast enough
song of the ancients is so good I could listen to it forever.the composers busted their fucking ass off for game, yoko taro got so lucky.
>>743339807i'm not saying it's a perfect game, but probably didn't want replicant to be another muso
I played this shit on Hard and it turned everything into a massive fucking sponge. At least it let me see all the boss moves and listen to the OST longer but good lord I would not recommend it. And it sucks because the game is still piss easy it just wastes your fucking time. I really wish they had balanced the difficulty better.
>>743339515There are completely new scenarios such as the wrecked ship. For Papa to be properly voiced, Jamie would need to come back and record ALL the new lines, especially for that part of the game. Otherwise he'd have Bro Nier's voice.
>>743339762nta but baine bloodhoofno, he didn't misspell kaine
>>743334301>just finished Automata>thought that's what the thread was about since I barely glanced at the OP image>read through the greentext and agreed on every point>mfw I checked the image againguess this series isn't for me
>>743338604>>743336209I think this is one of those Shazam/Sharty packaged threads they post here everyday shitting on games that were popular here for any length of time. Probably a conic dispersal in an attempt to recreate or redefine the narrative here. It might even be loosely connected to intelligence agencies studying social conditioning via online communities. We've seen this place hit near zero traffic when Israel is being attacked, so I'm not surprised by anything anymore. >Actually this is a completely organic thread and I just don't like the game Okay well good for you. Stop playing. Don't force yourself to try and like something. You only get one chance on this iteration of Earth, so go play something you actually like. It doesn't matter if it's popular or not, or if everyone else here hates it. The point of a game is to enjoy the sport of it. The point of a video game is to enjoy the digital sport of it.
>>743339951Yeah I just made the same mistake. I'm just so used to Automata being the only Nier game shit posted about here. Like every day.
>>743339774Nope, born with two sets of junk. She was a normal woman before Project Gestalt, even married to a man. However, because the Project was rushed, various "glitches" occurred with later generations, such as Kaine having both a pingas and a vagania.
>>743339943thought he meant bane
>>743340063my bad
i can see why yoko taro said stellar blade is a better video game than his. gameplay-wise nier is unbearable in comparison
>>743340212>gameplay-wise nier is unbearable in comparisonIt's literally buttery-smooth in Automata and Replicant. I'll give you Gestalt and Drakengard.
>>743340212there's something stellar blade lacks and replicant has; instant narrative hookwhen i first started gestalt (that's the first version i played) i was instantly captured by the decrepit city, the sick daughter, desperate combat, the magic element and the crazy time skipstellar blade has the same problem as elden ring, a polished formula with a weak unengaging first hourhaven't touched the game in a year
>>743340752of course. stellar blade's story is a half-step above ai-gibberish
why did they not capitalize on the moderate success of these games with another sequel that wasn't a shitty phone game?
>>743341074that's the million dollar question. why has yokotaro been exiled to mobiledom and nier to collab hell?i'm sure the answer can be summarized to "square enix is retarded"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIz2PY8p5rsThe game is a narrative experience, it's slow, it is like reading a book in game form, the forest word puzzle is unskippable and a slog, but the actual development of the game by the third playthrough, where you learn about what the actual world is, and what the shades are, and what it all means, it's honestly kino and I don't understand how so few people have any engagement with the games.
>>743341326the death dream is probably what the replicants experience when they are being prepared to unite with their gestalt, it's such an interesting concept cause the replicants resisting it and calling it a desease shows how oblivious they are to their nature of shellsalso, the text part, most people call it lazy or uninspired, but nier jumps from genre to genre (platformer, survival horror, arpg) and this is a text based adventure
>>743341326I honestly found the woods to be one of the more interesting areas. Way more engaging than running through barren fields for the 50th time just to go fetch something.
>>743341706>lazy or uninspiredIt actually makes total sense because the big tree at the center is the gateway to a vast underground computer system, thus the text without visuals. This is revealed in Route E when Kaine traverses it.
>>743341992we are talking about people who finished route A and never played it again. mostly dimwits
>>743342043Completely understandable thougheverbeit
>>743342661for a dimwit
>>743342661For a hopeless drooling retard, yes.
>>743342043I kinda wish there would be no end-credits until endings C or D. Just throw the player back into where Kaine gets unpetrified. Then there wouldn't be any confusion since "endings" A or B are not actual endings, just the end of act 1 or 2 in a 3-part play.
>>743344424they ARE ending, since you killing the shadowlord is the ending of everything, except E ending, which is remake exclusivealso the credits are important since they play the different versions of Ashes of a Dream, and that's enough reason to slam you with credits EVERY time
>>743344617>the credits are important since they play the different versions of Ashes of a Dream, and that's enough reason to slam you with credits EVERY timeAnd that is kino, but it creates such a fucking case of confusion when it comes to what it means to truly finish a Yoko Taro game. Smooth-brains are so dense that Squeenix even had to put a message after Ending A in Automata saying that there's a lot of new content if you keep playing through the rest of the game.
>>743344617>the ending of everythingNot exactly. At the end of route C/D, you do fight Kaine and all.
>>743334301>Am I just filtered or is the game genuinely this bad? You're playing a Yoko Taro game so both
>>743334301>I’m well past the second part of this game and I just don’t understand the appeal. It’s not enjoyable and it doesn’t have ANYTHING backing it up.Then stop playing. You clearly don't like it, so don't force yourself to play it hoping that will change. If it's not clicking after 14 hours into it then it's not gonna click at all.You just don't have what it takes to appreciate the things NieR does with its OST, its gameplay and its lore.
Don't open
>>743349194>We will always... be... together.
>>743334301>outside of the OST, there isn’t much to like. They completely fucked up the OST in the remake.>Am I just filtered or is the game genuinely this bad?Yeah it's terrible. People like it because of the story.
