Replaying mass effect 3 and holy shit it is way worse than I remember. Ignoring the shit ending, I can't believe this game has dogshit turret sections.
the game does look pretty tho
>>743343737It really was a mess from start to finish. Gameplay was peak Gearsification, and the story was trying to double dip on lorefagging and new player onboarding at the same time. All the focus on the ending probably meant that no lessons were learned with anything else.
>>743345198one thing good about it is, I'm at least happy they reference Torfan so much.
>>743345652
>>743343737>Mass Effect 2: Cerberus was a morally skeptical grey coded pro humanitarian/terrorist group >Mass Effect 3: DURRER WE NEED HUMAN BAD GUY ENMEIES I KNOW LETS MAKE THEM EVILL FROM DA REAPERS FRURRRRR
>>743345947why not just use random brainwashed humans like in mass effect 1?
>>743346218we can't have the player have agency and we need to dumb down the story that's why
Was the multiplayer the first gacha game?
>>743345947Cerberus was always a cutout for DIC psychopaths.>>743346218They leveled up to named brainwashed humans.
>>743346370i recently tried to get back into it and kept pulling shit Engineer Characters and not Vanguards and Infiltrators like I wanted from the card packs so yes it would be the first Gacha
>>743346584Surprised people still play. I had more fun with that than the main game though.
>>743345947ME1>Cerberus is just a splinter militia groupME2>actually Cerverysbis a shadowy illuminati group with a lot of power in human spaceME3>Cerberus can solo the galaxy and win
>>743345947Cerberus was always a edge lord meme faction that should never have been anything more then a tertiary background faction that was a useful storytelling and gameplay tool for side missions
>>743346694ME1 Cerberus was still doing political assassinations and building all kinds of clandestine research labs and shit. That's not militia behavior.>>743346731Also true. Idk what the decision making process was like where they handed off the top level story to Mac Walters.
playing the game as a pro human has 0 effect on the ending choices
>>743346825never ask a pro human the species of his girlfriend
I tried to play it when it was new and Origin kept irreparably fucking up and would not complete the transaction to the point I got so pissed off I just gave up even though I'd beaten both of the other games with two characters multiple times. Then I had stretches where I wasn't playing games a lot, when I did have time I had new stuff I was more interested in and never got around to finishing mass effect, especially with everyone being unhappy with 3, but I decided to finally complete it and bought it on steam, and the EA DRM is completely fucking up and not letting the game launch regardless of what I trythis shit is just ridiculous and I don't know what to think at this point
>>743345947And they somehow have a fleet of warships and that rival the Council races own. Completely built and trained in secret.
>>743346825>playing the game has 0 effect on the ending choicesFtfy. It's funny enough they made human supremacist shep factually correct shep.
>>743347070>the evil ending is actually the good ending in me1you literally save your own people and civilians compared to a bunch of piece of shit alien politicians. I let them die every time
>>743347163based
>>743346926Why do human male supremacist always have blue wives?
>>743346973Council races are canonically incompetent. The Protheans had to seal humans away to keep us from genociding them before they could develop enough to confuse the Reapers with their Africa level antics. Don't forget the Prothean Athame built Asari civilization and gave them all the tech they would need to be a first rate military thousands of years earlier than they should in the cycle.
>randomly change Ashley appearance for no reason >call of duty companion worst mass effect for companions
>>743347527No Miranda as a squad mate because reasons….
>>743347446>The Protheans had to seal humans away to keep us from genociding themcan you elaborate on this?
>>743347758Big human cock was going to fuck all the prothean woman.
>>743345161>the game does look pretty tho
>>743347758It's in convos you have with Javik in ME3. They figured left to their own devices the humans would be the dominant race of the cycle, but this would only amount to weaker Protheans. So instead they shut off the relay in Sol, giving humans space to develop without Reaper guardrails, and tried to make the Asari the ruling galactic empire. Because le diversity is strength. Which half worked because humans invented some stuff which would never have been legal under council rules like medigel.
imagine how hot a threesome with Aria and Liara would be. Imagine calling up Aria to have sex with you and Liara after the Omega DLC where Aria kisses you. The first time I played this DLC, I was shocked that Aria just kisses Shepard out of nowhere when he is already with Liara. We needed a threesome option.
we were robbed
>>743349364I hated these dikes
>>743349415why did you hate Liara and Aria? Both of them quite like Shepard and treat him well.
>>743349524Their whole species is trash and deserves to get raped out of existence by the krogans
>>743343737If you're "replaying mass effect 3" you're supposed to exclusively only play the multiplayer.
>>743349619why do you hate Asari, think about how bad the human female options are. I had no choice but to date Asari. Miranda is a coal burning slut and Ashly got lip injections to become a bimbo. I had no choice but to pick Asari. Look at this bimbo, she and Miranda are unfuckable.
>>743347309Azur is a hell of a drug
>>743349723Liara is the only true choice for galactic explorers who aren't complete virgins, gay or furries
I always find it funny how no one actually likes Miranda for her personality. She has no actual wholesome romance like Tali and Liara. Miranda is just ass, that is all she is.
once you go blue, you never go back
>>743349985Once you go blue, NOTHING ELSE WILL DO
>>743349305>>743349364Carrie Ann Moss could still get it, especially as a purple space alien babe
>>743349985>>743350025Fact
Fighting Cerberus troops in ME3 is where the series peaked in terms of gameplay. Search your hearts, you know it to be true.
>>743343737It's funny you say that, I still think the gameplay in ME3 is the most fun overall thanks to its combat system. The story is so wack though. The middle is good but the beginning and ending are so weird and disjointed. I'm not sure how much of it is Casey Hudson's fault and how much of it is EA's fault in making them put it out too quick but I lean more towards the latter.
Well?
>>743350228I thought you'd never ask!
What's the difference between Liara and a brick wall? The brick wall is vastly more interesting and has more personality to it.
>>743350228Marriage old age, and a lot of little blue children.
>>743349813>>743349871>>743349985>>743350025Faggot
>>743350694Enjoy your coal burning non virgin whore Miranda.
>>743350694Oh yeah, so gay
>>743350727I don't save pictures of black men on my HDD, (You) do. I'm a Talifag.
baby making sex with Liara
>>743351153Tali loves Garrus. Why does she romance Garrus in the game?https://youtu.be/OlFPbvtc5Eg
Tali sisters not like this, why does she flirt with other men.
romance faggots kill another thread!
I will always come back to you Liara...
>>743351360the series is dead, there is nothing left to talk about. the last trailer was in 2020. No news since then.
>>743349364big fan of her rule 34 stuff though...
>>743351409fuck you Kai Leng, you trolled me again. I wanted Aria rule 34.
>>743350583BASED BASED BASED BASED

>>743351237>Why does she romance Garrus in the game?In the Citadel DLC, it shows you a scene with Tali where she shows Shepard her favorite movie that she was/is obsessed with. A romance about a Turian and a Quarian falling in love. That's why she will romance Garrus in ME3
>>743351165>and it was straight from the Commanders mouthYeah, I'm thinking canon
>>743349364My wife
>>743351237Because it's apparently canon that Turians and Quarians like each other. In-game there's a popular interracial romantic movie specifically about Turians and Quarians. In ME2 or ME3 (or both?) you can also overhear several conversations with a Quarian girl who's just broken up with her boyfriend and her Turian friend (male) not-so-secretly tries to move past the friendzone.
Good evening, Commander
>>743349936I do though. Don't care about the ass.
>>743355615Iirc they shared some aspects of physiology in a weird way. You can go to a bar in 1 of the games and the bartender says there's different types of food out and one is meant for Quarians and Turians because only they can process it and the bartender warns you not to eat them as a human.
>turret sectionsI've replayed the series probably 5-6 times and I've never once used the turret, why is this something you thought was worthy to make a thread and bitch about? Have you tried just NOT using them? :)
>>743345161By all accounts, it was a visual downgrade from ME2, because it also had to release on the PS3 for which Bioware just couldn't work around. Other studios did better work porting ME2 on the PS3 for X360 parity, than Bioware did for natively making ME3 for the PS3. Technically, it is a mess and that it even starts is kind of an achievement.Remember, they couldn't give you a holster animation, and the QIC level of the Normandy had an in-game loading screen to pass a door. It was so fucked up.
>>743346694Even in ME1 it was obvious that Cerberus had more branches than people realized. In addition to what got my nigga Kahoku assassinated and the moon base, the potential ties to Shepard's past etc. it seems like Cerberus is a far reaching organization, rather than a small black ops group. We just didn't know, or Bioware did not do a good enough job to demonstrate the actual size of Cerberus, but they were really trying to show that Cerberus wasn't a minor player. ME2 does a much better job at it, obviously, as working with them exposed the breadth of their organization, with ties to Terra Firma, and in ME3 with ties to trillionaires (quadrillionaires?) like Henry Lawson to justify their financial backing. But having entire fleets that rival the entirety of the Milky Way military in ME3 is just way beyond what should be possible covertly. ME3 went full retard.
>>743346790>>Also true. Idk what the decision making process was like where they handed off the top level story to Mac Walters. It seems to me like Drew also liked Cerberus enough to make them central to his books. I think people placing the blame entirely on Mac are willfully ignorant.
>>743347687And the Alliance hired a notorious murdering psychopath to teach kids because ...
>>743358245She was given a second chance. She works on helping to save humanity in 2 and is (arguably) the most powerful human biotic who's buddy-buddy with Shep, why would they not try to hire her? It's assumed she went under military training, teaching aptitude tests, etc. during the downtime after 2.You would be insane not to extend an olive-branch to her if you're the Alliance. It all worked out in the end so you're stupid.
>>743358357>>She was given a second chance.Usually, you get a second chance, after, and if you're still alive, you serve your penance.
>>743345947Cerberus was an evil psycho organisation ever since the first game.
It's funny to me how the story and world building of 1 gets tossed out the window in 2. Terminus Systems being volatile enough that the Council is wary that a war can spark between them? Don't worry about it, they sent ships to scour Ilos even though you can only get to Ilos through the Mu relay that's inside the Terminus Systems AND they can even reinstate Shepard's Spectre status even though he rather openly is operating inside the Terminus Systems! Sovereign spent centuries working to find a way to get the Citadel back under control? The Reapers can just fly for a month or so into the galaxy as per Arrival.
>>743358718>It's funny to me how the story and world building of 1 gets tossed out the window in 2Probably for good reason. ME2 was mega successful, so probably ME1 had the wrong idea.
>>743343737>I can't believe this game has dogshit turret sections. You have to remember that this was the early 2010s. Western developers were fucking enamoured with shitty turret sections. Even Ass Creed Brotherhood, a game set IN THE ITALIAN RENASSIANCE, somehow found a way to shove a turret section into the time period. https://youtu.be/Kj9hEFilolM?si=WU4N4ba76gzA-fwA&t=300
>>743345652It's so weird how everything written by Patrick Weekes refers to Shepard's background but the main plot doesn't. My memory of 3 is a game that rewrote the story and ignored the player's canon completely, and defaulted to Earthborn no matter what, because Shepard is like "Earth... HOME." in every fucking scene instead of looking at the bigger picture. Earth may be harder and earlier hit by all the Reapers but fact is they're everywhere within 2 hours of the story, which we knew they would be before 3 even started, so I remember literally yelling at my screen throughout my first go at ME3 back in 2012 just going "What the fuck happened to the writing??" and shit like that.Literally all the time I would be like>Oh shut the fuck up Shepard>WHERE ARE MY CHOICES?>Omg! Just fucking... ughh>"Earth" againnn!!!>This plot is so wroonnngggghhh!!!Just the whole game, that I actually didn't appreciate how at least Joker and Traynor reference your backstory multiple times.I think behind the scenes Patrick Weekes felt a lot like the fans did, working with Casey and Mac on this game just going>Noo, noooouh!at a lot of dumb decisions they were making. I remember on Penny Arcade, as "Takyris" before he made that post about the ending and Mac/Casey, when people had the same reactions like "Omg why is it about Earth all the time??" and "where was the trial Shepard was supposed to go to?" and all this, he would respond something like "All of the things I see you complaining about are things I yelled about over a year ago, and had to pull writer-rank to change where I could."I really think ME3 would've been a total Resident Evil 6 situation if Mac hadn't had the other writers on staff to go "Wait a minute... this makes no sense" and stuff. He was an awful writer. He even admitted that he never played ME1 or ME2 after ship, before LE, and he seemed genuinely surprised about how epic the finale of ME1 was. He probably hadn't seen that before.
