Should players side with Emperor or Orpheus?
>>743349980One of them requires to beat the most bullshit optional boss in the entire game, so the otherOrpheus choice also has the Emperor making the most retarded writingAlso Orpheus doesn't even get to lead the revolution anyway
frontloading you with content as soon as you get to baldurs gate is retarded and i can’t be bothered to finish any act 3 quests, just unfun even doing modded joke play through
I think it was a missed opportunity to not have more forced Dark Urge options in Act 2 and 3
>>743349980>get to end of act 2>was initially suspicious of the dream figure and only grew more weary of them as the game progressed>have to "help" an illithid, soulless monsters who only exist to manipulate humans, kill a bunch of gith>refuse and start attacking the illithid instead>get a game overYeah, that's where the game lost me. Fuck off. I'm not siding with an illithid.
>>743350303>when the game is so frontloaded that you ignore all the act 3 quests and drop the game rather than risk coming across more content that wasn't in the frontwhat's wrong with you?
>>743349980Emperor is an asshole, but at the same time Orpheus being free is just bad for everyone who isn't Gith. Vlaakith holds their dumb, militaristic asses back due to being paranoid. Orpheus being free will surely, eventually, lead to Vlaakith's downfall, and the Githyanki empire will become a problem for everyone.
>>743349980i went with emperor because the game wouldnt respect or reflect my dialogue choices
>>743349980Orpheus is stronger combat wise. If he goes full squid, he gets access to the most ridiculous powers in any videogame>casting 2 AoE nukes that pulls all enemies into the center (and applies the slow debuff) every turn should be illegal And even he doesn’t go full squid, you still get a high level monk.Emperor on the other hand is a pretty shit mindflayer. He can only use his strongest abilities once. He does have unlimited uses of telekinesis which is really fun. Also your choice of ally will also decide which enemies spawn on top of the brain. If you go with Orpheus, you have to fight dream guardians and the Emperor. The Emperor will most likely die from being caught in AoE effects and the dream guardians mostly just spam weaker versions of the Command spell. If you side with the Emperor, you will have to deal with countermeasures instead. These are basically copies of your party and are therefore much more versatile, so they can easily fuck over your strategy with things like Counterspell and See Invisibility.
>>743349980The Emperor makes it pretty clear he's a creepy evil rapist who would mindrape you to death as he's done to his prior associates if he had the power to, plus I actually had to argue with the nigger to free Minsc which sealed his fate
>>743350303it's the best part of the game with how the quests explicitly and not so explicitly tie into each other and overlap in locations causing you to naturally find them and start some of them half-way in because you just stumbled into itit's so fucking goodthe only way I see someone not enjoying it is if they are an impatient troglodyte who has to have everything presented exactly in order and finished before anything new ever starts
