Does Xenoblade 2 have the worst localization in the history of gaming?
>>743350056Point to me on Exor where his Neosquid is.
Not even close. A better question is if FE Fates managed to surpass than Working Designs or not.
>>743350056those weird brainfart threads about 10+ year old subject and unrelated pictures really feel like AI bot spam. just saying....

>>743350056Hell no. Were you even around for Working Designs?
I love donuts
>>743350056Madao-san.
>>743350056Fire Emblem Fates is still the worst
>>743350056Madao, don't you remember Working Designs?
>>743350056Probably nothing compared to Fire Emblem Fates with Engage.
Anything Treeslop does, I think Fire Emblem got it even worse. It's all pretty bad though and they're the reason why I refuse to buy anything Nintendo.
>>743350056no, Tales of Xillia was worse. imagine replacing Miyuki Sawashiro with Daffy Duck. Milla's dub voice was so fucking bad.
>>743350056Xenoblade 2 is a bad localization that butchers the story lore BUT it has dual audio and unchanged visuals. You could do a lot worse, and Nintendo Treehouse did a lot worse, and others did even worse. My personal picks:Fire Emblem Fates - made by people who actively hate the material. They spent money on the cut skinship minigame fully dubbing it but cancelling it and fueling misinformation about the game having "gay gender therapy" when the char in question was just a heterosexual fushoji. The original game isn't that well written but unlike the European version (forced to follow NoA consistency because of "controversy") it reads like an abridged dub, mixed with bad capeshit writing and therapy speak, which is NOT what Fire Emblem is about. One of the DLCs was renamed to "Boo Camp", and they were not allowed to localize the last DLC batch (Japan only) or Echoes (outsourced to 8-4 which isn't much better but still a night and day difference). Engage is almost better because the overfixation on positive reinforcement for faggotry is gone when they just wrote out all hints of romance but kept the gameplay systems working. Their naming sense for the english titles for games is shit too (like Fire Emblem Treehouse, excuse me, Three Houses)Anything by Working Designs before the PS2 is unprofessional. Their version of Shining Wisdom disrapages the original publisher (wants them to buy Beyond the Beyond by Sony instead) and removes references to the Shining series because the localizer picked a fight with Sega. Sega also wanted Rayearth on Saturn to have a tie in with an elementary schoolgirl anime saturday morning cartoon, he rejected the deal, delayed the game past the planned dub, rejected the new logo, AND filled the game with "jokes" about the girls fantasizing about condoms and the joys of sex that were not in the JP script. Lunar and Alundra had intentional mistranslations to break puzzle solutions so that players by WD's guidebooks.
>>743362170>BUT it has dual audioif only it had subtitles for both
>>743362584Ah I should explain. Back when Atlus and 8-4 were really brazen with localization changes in the late 2000s these games were often english dub only for no reason. Initially it was thought this was to save on licensing fees but the thing is, the european versions had no issue with the jp audio or keeping it as a dual option, and the american versions had the jp audio used for battle cries meaning they paid for it.When Gunvolt was first localized with that horrible translation, they announced an english dub, then cancelled it, then said "they will keep the game without voice acting to avoid "cultural dissonance" aka they know the text has absolutely nothing to do with the audio but want to remove the jp audio to hide that as much as possible.Nintendo for all of their faults started to allow dual dubs after NoE pushed for it with Xenoblade 1 (despite that its english dub was already very good, by trained theatre actors who still referenced the jp audio and had solid direction, rather than the same five californians doing their own thing) so that by itself gives it plus points... but then NoA Treehouse started asking the jp voice actors to re-record lines to match their bullshit, albeit it was limited to Tokyo Mirage Sessions' age adjustments. (That localization is a disaster but it still got away with a lot of unchanged problem content from Atlus USA, so it's slightly less shitty than FE Fates)
>>743350056Metaphor's localization is pretty bad. It killed any relevance the game would have had outside of Japan.
