Is there a way to put a pivot on this thing? The D-Pad is nice but I'd rather it didn't push down in the center

I quite like Hori's fighting game dpads, in particular the pokken controller which you can pick up cheap on ebay

I keep thinking about buying one of those just for more dpad heavy games. I tend to prefer Xbox controller layout which is why I use that for most of my controllers but those do look good for dpad gaming

Of course since I'm talking dpad gaming there's also the forbidden route of just getting some $30 chinkheld at some point to play old shit on in bed which is not much different than buying a better controller for it
>>
>>743351226
this one surprised me, I thought the dpad would be a total piece of shit but it feels good to use even in fighting games
>>
>>743351778
But it comes with one...

I haven't used one but it looks very similar to the Vita D-Pad, which is one of the most kino D-Pads ever made.

The TT Max
Best d-pad I've felt in a standard controller, and it's symmetrical which makes it easier to use for me. It's essentially the same d-pad as their Elves 2 which is the reason I bought it.
I'm surprised more people don't talk about it. Think it has 2-3 ms latency with the dongle, and it's worked for everything I've tried including slotting the dongle into a Brook Wingman to use it on my PS2.

Gulikit's quality control is awful. I ordered an elves 2 and the left stick rattled, then I ordered a second and the dpad was super mushy. I frankensteined both controllers together and returned the one with all the faulty parts. I like the elves 2 for simpler indie games, but I sure as fuck am not gonna gamble 70 in hopes Gulikit doesn't fuck me again.

Sega Saturn controller.
Original.

8bitdo are shit.

Hori make some good ones.

>4 face buttons
Why is it so hard for these companies to make a controller with 6 face buttons and 2 sticks
>>
I used to play Melty Blood React on a Logitech F310. That has a solid d-pad on it. Great for fighting games.
>>
>>743353807
So you're looking for the Retrobit Saturn Pro?
>>
>>743353920
NTA but this controller was straight up garbage. Switch sized stick caps, small grips, the C and Z buttons mirror the shoulders so you don't have a true 10 button controller, also some other issues I remember from reviews.
>>
>>743350971
It's decent, but I wouldn't recommend it. D-pad continuing to register a direction even after releasing it screwed me up a couple times.
>>
>>743354065
I heard it was ok for PC but sucked as a proper Saturn controller since it didn't have digital triggers like the actual Saturn 3d controller.
>>
>>743354231
I had this issue with my M30 (2.4Ghz USB version) as well as buttons occasionally remaining pressed after releasing, it went away when I updated the firmware for both the controller and receiver.
>>
Does GameCube have the most useless dpad?
Love the controller but that shit was stiff
>>
>>743354065
>the C and Z buttons mirror the shoulders so you don't have a true 10 button controller
Can't you switch it to direct input? I remember it being possible on the wired one without the sticks.
>>
>>743350275
D-pad specifically? Series X controller, no contest.
>>
>>743354313
The Gamecube d-pad is straight up unusable for primary movement. It's agonizing playing the Mega Man and Mega Man X Collections on GC.
>>
>>743352379
That's a big dpad
>>
>>743354303
I have the bluetooth one that I usually use plugged, I might be shit out of luck, but I'll google around.

I've been sorting through, repairing and preparing peripherals for my old systems for storage in my attic. picrel is almost half of them. Atari, Amiga, Commodore, NES, SNES; N64, Wii, Wii U, Switch, PS1-5, Sega Mega Drive, Saturn, Xbox & Xbox 360.
I've been testing them for issues and after playing with them all more or less in a row, the Sega Mega Drive/ Genesis 3 button controller is still king. 6 button and Saturn pad follows closely, but the 3 button pad is the best, not only for it's dpad, but also the button layout and controller shape.

Another great alternative is the iBuffalo SNES USB pad, which is a prefect recreation and has some of the lowest input delay measured.
>>743350971
this is also a great pad
>>743351226
I want to try a few gamesirs since they seems to have a good reputation. I got a steam pad so I'm good for now together with my iBuffalo, 8bitdo M30 and mega drive & saturn pads for variety.
DaemonBite adapters are easy and cheap to make, just pick up an old controller for best value

Controller sage here, you want pic related.
Not only the dpad is very practical from all testers, it is also a very good controller and probably the best value wireless symmetrical controller on the market right now.
>>
>>743350971
this is my go to, it's pretty comfy and haven't had issues with it, I mostly play shmups with it
>>
>>743353219
That doesn't surprise me that their QC would suck. I've heard quite a few complaints about the joystick deadzone on their TT Max.
Fortunately both my Elves 2 and TT Max wound up being perfect, so I guess I'll just have to hope they don't shit the bed.
>>
>>743350275
Maybe not the best but the psvita has an amazing dpad and I'll never forgive Sony for the stupid fucking overpriced memory cards.
