Do you go easy on your friends or do you always play to win?

I only play co-op games so I can carry my friends or they can carry me :)

Usually depends on the game, and on the person

Some people want you to get right into it because they like a bit of excitement to get them motivated into trying to break down the system you used to beat them

Other people are a bit more shy and if you pulverize them they will just assume they aren't the intended audience for the game and there is no point in doing anything other than politely bearing your pointers until they can divert attention into something more rewarding for them

Generally if it's a game I understand is rough on newcomers and not someone's cup of tea, I will try to make it painless as I can without undermining their genuine understanding of the mechanics

If you go full throttle tourney picking with bans on people just picked up a controller, I can tell you I might have a hunch as to why your subset of the hobby is dying
