>”BUT WHY HASN’T DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION LOWERED THE PRICE OF GAMES”Nigga, digital distribution is the reason why you aren’t paying $120 for games today.
>>74335251787 dollars then is avout 20 dollars now
A fookin' leaf
>inflationBe careful OP, using that word makes the schizos come out
>>743352517>DKC2 box artthat must have been made before the actual release. I remember saving up my money to buy DKC2 at the time it was a lot, but then again I was a child. I don't think I spent that much though, probably $50-$59 range sounds more accurate
>>743352517Nintendo's a terrible gauge to use for pricing. When new PS1 games were releasing at $39.99 Nintendo 64 games were going for $59.99 to $79.99. They've always had dogshit pricing.
>>743352517I can't believe I almost didn't buy Death Stranding 2 during the Steam Summer Sale for 50 bucks while a shitty game like Donkey Kong Country 2, where the extent of interaction is jumping on a bosses head 5 times, is an inflation adjusted $175.So glad I did buy it. Worth the 50 bones and so much better than forcing myself to play Elden Ring.
why do people think digital games would be cheaper when game dev budgets are already stratospheric and only getting worse
>>743352517I don't even think those are US prices. I've never seen snes games go that high back in the day.
>>743352718These are US prices.
>>743352517$88 in 1993 = $187 in 2026the fuck??We can only thank Sony for putting an end to Nintendo's greed in the 90s
>>743353213They absolutely were that expensive.I've been collecting 90s mags lately, and they're full of price information.
>>743353406but they lowered as time went on. I bought DKC2 back in the day, no way I spent more than $70. $59 + taxes sounds about right. I think the ad is probably around 1995 range, to which that was earlier than when I was spending my own money to buy games. I suppose for me it was around 1996 or even 1997 for DKC2
>>743353406>I've been collecting 90s mags lately, and they're full of price information.Honestly, whenever I went to Toys R Us back in the day... not a single snes games had prices like in the picture. I don't remember seeing anything over 50 bucks.I still remember the christmas I bought Cold Shadow and it just came out brand new... it was like 49.99 bucks.
