I need you guys to get good at this game so I can get more+better content. I'm suffering, it's gotten to the point where I'm watching videos in other languages just to get my fix.

You could make your own videos.

>DK2
Based
Playing as the "swat" was a kino experience, it's more challenging than being the US rangers but lets you use unhinged tactics such as shredding enemies with mass AK fire from your militia goons or just blowing up practically the whole building with a generous supply of heavy explosives
I was too retarded to play as the (((((((CIA)))))) effectively though
Wish the devs made a new update too, I heard somewhere they wanted to add Delta Force but idk if thats real
>>
When I play CIA (or modded factions with undercover people) I always end up spending 30 minutes spying on people, for a map I could clear in 1 minute if I just went balls deep with SWAT assaulters.
>>
>>743353662
this is a "problem" with almost any stealth games. It relies on players being intrinsically motivated. Ultraviolence is their easy mode
>>
I think it's a problem with DK2 - I got Silent Assassin on every map in Hitman 2016 because stealth is fun in Hitman. In DK2 I do it because it's more effective than not doing stealth, I'm just bored doing it.
>>
The engine is amazing and it's a great simulator. But it's missing the game part. I got excited when they announced campaigns for the 1.0 release but it's just more randomly generated sandbox levels. There's no progression even during the campaign itself, all your soldiers start at max level. The only difference between playing random scenarios and the campaign is that injuries carry over.

I would have loved some xcom-like campaign where you start with nothing and slowly unlock gear, level up soldiers and hire new people without failing whatever long term objective they give you.
>>
Absolutely. Battle honors being squad-locked is interesting, but I wish the "new squad" button had an option to remove ALL unlocks and stars so you had to progress the squad individually. You can kind-of do it by hitting the complete game reset in the options menu, but that really is a COMPLETE game reset, so it's not just new-squad, it's new-game and you won't have campaigns, factions or late maps unlocked either.

>You could make your own videos.

I have, actually, but making a good looking video is hard + takes time. That's why I want you to do it instead.
>>
>>743352546
You took 600 hours to start making mods? I was editing the equipment files by day 3.

>MK18s for the gunners
>Every militiaman is now allowed to have an ACOG on their M16
>CIA has 8 black ops instead of 2, and they can use the NGSW guns
>Single tube NVGs for undercover agents
>Swat leader can have fancy stuff from the rangers.
The list goes on and on.
>>
>>743353662
Why are you lying? There's plenty of maps where the ability to use undercover start points is extremely useful. Many levels where a HVT could run off if spooked early, too.

Also, the point of the CIA is that it's a small team and thus you need to use their stealth powers. It's an intended style of play.
>>
>>743354826
>There's no progression even during the campaign itself, all your soldiers start at max level
No they don't. They just don't. Also you get those medal things for special gear and soldier upgrades by doing campaigns.

>The only difference between playing random scenarios and the campaign is that injuries carry over.
And the fatigue mechanic. What's the problem here? You need to play well to avoid injuries and you can't always use your best men, because they might be fatigued. Iron man that shit.
>>
>>743357602
I 3-starred every mission before staring on campaigns, and then 3-starred every mission on the operation-style campaigns, and punched through several tours of duty, before I downloaded my first mod or custom map. I wanted to see the game as KHG designed it.

These days I'm balls-deep in mods, but mostly the ones that are harder to play. Though I did get the mod where all shotguns are considered breaching shotguns, so my support gunners can run shotguns instead of machine guns and take the breacher role.

It's too hard to make videos of the gameplay because the recordings can't be exported as video files. They're just instruction sets that get assembled in real time. You need to use your own screen capture software. It's surpisingly hard to have a full mission not come out looking compressed as fuck after you make it 4mb to fit on 4chan. There's too many little things happening at once.
>>
>>743357664
> It's an intended style of play.
cool design doc, still boring.

> lying
???
About what? About being bored? About spending 30 minutes being bored? About being bored on a map SWAT could clear in a minute?
>>
>>743357851
Try the halo mod. Spartans are OP as shit. They can punch through walls, carry two primaries, and their motion sensor is represented as a limited range vision circle all around them. but at least that's lore accurate.
>>
I've yet to play DK2 but it looks cool. Had a few DK1 webms but I deleted them and I can't find them on the /vst/ shame.
>>
>>743358072
Sorry, I guess I interpreted your remarks as libel. You're completely right about other factions being faster. That's just the nature of having more units to control at once. The rangers also have superhuman reaction times that let them safely enter and clear rooms without needing flashbangs.
>>
>>743354826
Why the fuck are you lying nigga? No your soldiers don't start out at max level, they have the same stats when they do a campaign run. Campaign missions have a slightly different map generation system for the two randomised tours of duty and there's a selection of hand-crafted ones with their "plotlines" and handmade missions. Campaigns have the system of fatigue and injuries that actually give your missions some stakes, and you can do them in permadeath. Then the battle honors you earn from campaigns are needed to boost your troopers with better stats and unlock some special gear.
>>
>>743357851
You know you can go into the game files and change basic stuff as you please, right? It's all labeled. You can spread faction gear around, change weapon stats and attack types, etc.

The LMGs become SO much better if you remove the arbitrary 6-shot-minimum bursts at close range. Half the reason LMGs suck so much is because your troops are forced to shoot a load of bullets at one target before switching. The assault rifles feel quicker because they let troopers switch targets as soon as the current target is dead.
>>
>>743352546
I like this game, but I'm fucking ass at it.
>>
>>743358446
Surprising this isn't part of what you get if you spend 2 doctrine points on "Assault SAW."
>>
I love the SWAT guys. Some militia nigs start with maxed out assault stat and they absolutely shred with Uzis.
>>
>>743358271
Top level rangers are so fucking OP, both their doctrines and their weapons. I love pushing them as fast as possible, Delta style, because somehow they can get away with that bullshit.
>>
>>743357992
>>743352546
how american do you have to be to enjoy this game
>>
>>743357750
Yes you get them from completing campaigns and what happens when you go to a new one? They start with everything they already had. If they were max level they stay that way. There's no progression during the campaign itself, only meta progression outside of them.

It's like if you were to play a roguelike and you only earned perks between runs.
>>
>>743358486
Smoke grenades are your friend.
>>743359223
Fairly, but one of the teams you can pick is an arab SWAT team, complete with disposable cannon fodder guys.
>>
>>743359223
Surprisingly little. Obviously you have to be cool with playing as the invading army at least long enough to unlock the local faction, but the devs aren't American and didn't put in any bullshit.
>>
>>743359373
>There's no progression during the campaign itself
They level up with every mission, campaign or not. It takes many missions for a trooper to reach max level. Every level you play is progressing your troopers, unless they're all maxed out.
>>
>>743359560
Smoke nades have situational uses, but I find it better to go ham with the frags unless a mission calls for smoke. You can use frags to open doors, clear blinds and they also serve as a sonar ping when they land. Enemies always go "LOOK OUT" if they see a grenade landing.
>>
I love this game, it's a good salve for not having friends around who want to play Ready or Not
I wish there were more unabashed tacticool mods though, Nowheraki Burns is pretty good but I need Umbrella soldiers and guys like that, maybe Nod/GDI troopers
I tried the MGS mods but I hate that all the units in that are premade characters, my autism only accepts pure randoms or my own creations a la XCOM

One of my all time favorite bit-sized tactical games that pretty much mogs all modern tactical FPS titles in terms of immersion and applying IRL tactics. Too bad devs are silent. There's insane potential with DLC. Make a merc squad and add an economic aspect. Add various faction and a political angle, that sort of thing. Instead they just said Delta is coming and that's it. Yeah we've had Delta with mods since forever.

"Well MAYBE we could afford AP if you hadn't fucked up the hostage on the last mission, Ibrahim!"

Name a tacticool sim that does it better, faggot.

>its just stat checks with gear and soldier experience
You are telling on yourself. Maybe you cannot, but I certainly can, defeat the harder late-game maps with low-level default-gear units. Equipment and experience just makes it easier to recover from mistakes.
>>
Recommend me some mods with load of gear and op stuff like the Helljumpers one

>got dk2 on summer sale
>smooth gameplay and challenging missions
>the small maps are fun to run
>only ever use 4 soldiers, easier to manage
>but later missions are huge maps
>no more comfy allowed
>reset progress and run the missions again
>reach the same point where maps get big
>uninstall
intravenous is also pretty good
>>
>>743361804
I don't lime big maps either. It's annoying to individually drag every trooper across the map. There needs to be some kind of "follow the leader" setting so troopers can move as a group.

Big maps are best thought of as several smaller maps joined together. You get some loser troops to watch the external angles, then move in with a smaller team. Rise and repeat.
>>
Big maps are much better in coop where you can do it as two teams with their own responsibilities and don't have to remember the guys across the map.
