Are you guys liking it?Did you guys get it yet?Are you using it as a standard controller or are we optimizing with Steam input for some sick hotkeys?
>>743355041I want one I don't even use controllers that much and I already have a switch pro and a dualsense but damnit I want one
>>743355041My wait list ETA is December. I have a bunch of steam deck configs I'm excited to use on my desktop
>>743355041I got mine on launch. Took a bit over a week for it to ship. I fucking love it.>Are you using it as a standard controller or are we optimizing with Steam input for some sick hotkeys? Both. That's the best part. Before I got it, I thought it focused too much on the traditional controls and lost part of what made the original so good, but actually using it, it's just as comfortable to hold it with the trackpad as the main input as using the sticks.
>>743355218My ETA was september and it let me buy it 11 hours ago.
>>743355041Naw, im set thank you
>>743355041>boughted 2>loved it>boughted another 2its probably the best controller on the market, the ONLY thing better right now is the material of the Switch 2 Pro controller, which stops your hands from sweating, feels great, and is cleaner. The switch 2 pro is a good 2nd place, but the touchpads, 2 additional back buttons, and greater overall PC-compatibility of the steam one pulls ahead. But its very close, switch 2 pro is honestly fucking fantastic too.
>>743355218>>743355353It's BY sep/dec, meaning for september, you'll get it at some point between now and sep, and at some point between sep and dec for december.
I got the invite a couple of weeks ago but decided not to order one and boughted a gamesaar instead.I regret it...not that the gamesaar isnt good - its great, but its not a steam controller...
>>743355512You could probably try to send Steam support a message to see if they'll let you order again. If not, just place another reservation and use the gamesaar in the meantime.
>>743355041It's very comfortable and the back buttons are nice, but the main thing for me is using the trackpad for camera control instead of the analog stick. Not much else to say.
I pre-ordered around 1pm when it opened and got mine 2 weeks ago. It's pretty comfy, could never get my dualsense to work on bluetooth so having no wire is pretty nice especially since my pc monitor is 42'
>>743355041I love it.It's my main controller now.I want another one, but have to wait until next year.
The haptics of the touchpad are insane. It's crazy that it has no actual clicking part but it really feels like a click if you click and trackball mode really does feel like spinning a ball and you can feel the angle it's spinning at.
>>743355041It's already awesome as a normal controller so, the more I use it for mouse and keyboard games, the more I like it. RTAs, FPSs, emulators... It all comes on perfecting your config or finding a good one.For example TF2, some classes depend on your config, but a default one goes well with heavy or huntsman sniperAlso I try a lot of gyroscope shenanigans, like using it on kart racers like I'm on a Wiimote.Fighting games feel also great since the buttons are a bit bigger than the steam deck
>>743356659RTSs* fuck
I like the controller, but I'm still learning how to use gyro. On top of that, getting gyro to work is iffy sometimes. I decided to try it out for Control but the game is allergic to mixed inputs between keyboard and mouse, which means I have to map the gyro to the control stick. This makes micromovements not work well at all, which fucks up my use case because I'm trying to use the my right joystick to get onto target and then use gyro to adjust to where the enemy is moving.Pretty much the only thing I use controller for is third person games and platformers but I think for Control I'm just gonna go back to KBM.
>>743355679yeah i placed another reservation. ill grab one next time
>>743356659>>743356761I made it work for Total War Warhammer, it's so smoothWill try to make a set up for Dawn Of War soon just in time for DoW4
>>743355041Love it, just wish it had xinput so I could use it with my consoles. It's great for what it is though.
>>743356659Are the mousepads on the bottom actually good or a gimmick?
>>743356818>but the game is allergic to mixed inputs between keyboard and mouseI assume you meant between kbm and controller because the game worked just fine when I played it on kbm.>which means I have to map the gyro to the control stick. For those games, I just set the buttons to kbm buttons. If you do that, I suggest using the dpad for movement over the left stick. I personally think it feels better than the stick if you're going to be locked to 8 directions anyway.
>>743357432Yes. They're fucking awesome. You can get mouse input or set them to touch menus with 16 buttons each times however many extra input layers you have.
>>743357432The trackpads are more than just mousepads, apart from being able to configure it as a mouse however you want (sensitivity, enabling clicks when pressing them, etc) you can also do things like: map any button, keys or combination of keys, use them as joysticks, dpad, activating gyro, open menus such as radial menus, directly do a specific game action if the game supports it (like voice commands on tf2)..And I'm probably missing stuff!People get really creative so experimenting with community mappings is a must
>>743357467>I assume you meant between kbm and controllerYeahI don't know if I want to keyfigure everything on the controller, I was never the kind of guy to go deep into joy2key back in the day. I've got plenty of other stuff to play on controller anyways.
>>743355041Just ordered one, waited until the last hour of the 3 day period since I didn't have enough steam bucks and the skins I sold got an email saying the transaction was unusal and that I'd get the money in 5 days so ended up having to use real money.Hope it's worth it the only controller I've ever used for pc is a dualshock 3 but it's starting to show its age.
>>743356659>Also I try a lot of gyroscope shenanigans, like using it on kart racers like I'm on a Wiimote.I hadn't thought to try that, but now I want to. The only racing games I have on steam are simcade type games though.
>>743357432not a gimmick but you just gotta learn them to make it feel natural
Good thing I ordered it in the first 10 minutes otherwise I would be waiting for months like an absolute idiot I use it to play emulators on my couch using a Steam Link setup
>want to use it for gyro aiming across different games>tons of games still don't properly support gyro so mixed inputs still constantly give issue with the game, or you straight up cannot send both controller and mouse+keyboard inputs simultaneously
You'd think Valve would have produced more than they did so us dweebs who didn't/couldn't buy one when they went for sale wouldn't have to wait until next fucking year to get one.
>>743355041I'm in the September 2027 waitlist gang.
>>743359006>September 2027Nah no way dude
>>743359054Sorry, you're right. I have been misreading it this whole time. It's September 2026, which is a lot better.
>>743359194Yeah a whole year betterbut you'll still need to wait a couple of months
>>743358214For me, one that I enjoyed a lot is SRB2K or Ring Racers, and I feel like a child again
>>743358798I was on the reserve list and have since gotten mine. They are manufacturing and shipping them. But they can't just get 10 billion in stock instantly.
I guess I'm gonna like it if I have one, because I'm using my deck as a controller right now using Moonlight Remote input. Currently playing CP2077 on my PC with it. Trackpads are a must now for me on a controller.
