K3 is actually worse with this because they removed the kid substories from the main story and instead force you into doing the major minigame Bad Boy Dragon for 3+ hours before you can continue the story twice along with other new scenes to extend the game to make up for the stuff they cut.While they addressed a lot of the problems Kenzan had with combat the bosses still block a lot and super armor through stuff compared to 1 and 2 so their fights are typically not that fun.Beautiful Eyes is super contrived and only exists so you can eventually have a boss fight.There is an entire chapter, specifically chapter 9, called "The Plot" where it's over an hour of listening to all the major reveals of the story told to you in expository form.Lots of people aren't fans of the chase mechanics with Mack and they force you to participate in the mechanic at least twice in the main story, much more in side content.Side content and substories aren't as good as Kenzan but it's better than 1 and 2.Kiryu in general moves like a gorilla and it kinda feels odd, especially if you're coming off of 2.>I have og yakuza 3 on gogYou don't have OG 3, you have 3R which has issues due to the 60 FPS you can't fix. Emulate it on RPCS3 with the restoration patch if your system is capable of it, otherwise understand that with 3R the combat will have enemies blocking more than Kenzan ever did let alone 3 even on Easy and you need to use fixes like the quickstep fix just to address some of the 60 FPS problems on top of the restoration patch which you use on PS3 anyway.

A lot of emphasis on crafting your own weapons, but the game has the same balance where the mooks are laughably easy and the bosses are just really annoying so you burn through your 9 bento sets beating them down. It's just a hassle keeping them at all, you have a sword that can MAYBE chip away a bar of boss's HP and repairing it is 300 thousand yen, fuck that. I'd say the story isn't that bad, never hitting the lows of Resurrected Secret Korean Fakeout Terrada in Yakuza 2, but also not hitting the highs of Y2, maybe arguably the scene where Kiryu just breaks the fuck down, that was great. Some parts just not fit the things well, especially the antagonist doesn't have enough screen time in his own story. There are substories that fuck with the pacing, like, there's a really good detective substory with its own cutscenes and stuff, but it's done right at the chapter where you're told several times SHIT IS GOING DOWN GET OUT OF HERE NOW!!! Even Ishin PS4 has issues at 60 FPS with regards to karaoke and that's a game where they directly addressed 60 FPS issues since it doesn't have things like janky animations and Heat drain like the PS3 version does if you force 60.With 3R enemies block twice as much as the original due to the 60 FPS which only gets worse on the bosses. If you play on Easy or Normal you're basically playing on Kenzan's Hard/Expert difficulties in terms of blocking, and Hard/Legend are worse than that. It also breaks enemy guns (PC can fix this by full screening or using a mod), Heat drain (Can be fixed with a mod), and Heat Action timings (Very apparently in tag team battles when going for 100%).In 4R the 60 FPS breaks a chase segment by letting your opponent be significantly faster than you, has a specific enemy during Saejima's segment shoot three times as fast as he's supposed to making that segment way harder, and makes enemies grab more often leading to Saejima's first boss being even remotely notable when in the original even from a fresh save on Ex-Hard he was a joke of a boss.In 5R the 60 FPS breaks an entire gauntlet of Shinada's which includes an Ultimate Challenge segment.

You didn't have to do stupid nonsense like turning away from your enemies, charging up an attack with a 2H weapon, and then doing a 180 mid-attack so they didn't start blocking for example. You could also get in most parts of your combo on any enemy.Webm is an example of how the combat goes on Hard/Ex-Hard in 3 and you can see that they don't block remotely anything close to what they do on 3R. They do block, make no mistake, but most of your combo still lands for some amount of damage especially if you pivot to other enemies whereas in 3R even if you pivot they'll usually block it.
they actually made a cheaply made yakuza game and it managed to not sell well, worse than almost every modern yakuza. they had all the chance to not fuck up and they missed every single one
