Why do we still fight?
I mean, if all Nintendo games are on Steam with its completely open review system, many of them would get torn to pieces. Nintendo games exist in an exclusivity bubble and cannot bear close critical reception. Can you imagine if Pokémon games were on Steam? They would probably all be Mostly Negative.
>>743361798They would still sell.
What fighting? I have never seen somebody claim that Sonic games are better than Mario games. The purpose of the Sonic franchise is to create characters that people want to fuck and to keep Jim Carrey out of retirement.
>cool blue fastboy with superpowers>vs>old italan manlet with a maga hatah yes the age old debate
>>743361871Sonic games are better than Mario games
>>743361798Nintendo games would also have very few players after a week. You bet SteamCharts would be made against the rules on /v/.
>>743361832NTA but no they wouldn't. They'd lose out on their "exclusivity" which many nintentards wear as some badge of honor, something that would be lost if the games were on Steam. They would not sell, and if they did sell it'd still be mostly Switch users.
>snoy thread
>>743362024Don't be a communist. Your red man is not above criticism.
>>743361948As a Sonic fan, hard disagree.>entire point is to go fast>sidescrollers are the antithesis of going fast because of off screen enemies, pit falls, spikes, etc>move to 3d and they all kind of sucked ass, even adventure 1 and 2 even though I have rose tinted glasses for them, still paled in comparison to other 3d titles>the "boost" games completely removed all the bombastic kinetic energy and momentum based gameplay and almost killed the franchise entirely>2.5d games are the worst of both worlds, shitty slow paced 2d gameplay and then forced "boost" sectionsAll Sonic games are pretty mediocre. The only decent one I can think of since the adventure games was the Shadow one that came out a year or two ago.
>>743361832they barely sell in the first placepokemon merch brings in 4x the money of pokemon vidya
>>743361798People would finally realize that nintendo actually makes shit games that arent worth buying
>>743362254i cant believe you unironically drank the "sonic is fundamentally flawed" kool aid have you ever touched an arcade game in your life
>>743362316Sure thing, buddy
>>743361574
>>743361574>you only still exist because of exclusivity Nintendo clearly benefits from exclusivity. But this is retarded. What kind of retard would sincerely think that Mario would die from going multi platform? Absolute lunacy. Mario is one of the strongest brands in the history of mankind. Thinking that Mario couldn't persist through multiplatform distribution is mega retarded.
>>743362442>Still haven't surpassed Pokémon Red and BluePokémon games will never be big again.
>>743362254No the entire point isn't going fast. It's achieving the speed by skilled playThe adventure games are flawed but have higher peaks than Mario games
>>743362442Now post the actual numbers. All games could sell 10 copies, and the one that sells 12 would be considered "the best seller of the year" .
>>743362254Get a load of this retard. You never liked sonic games in the first place, your preferences proving that.
>>743362316>they barely sell in the first placeIf Pokemon barely sells. What do we call games who sell less than Pokemon? Which are most games.
>>743362617God you're such a faggot.Just endless shitflinging with no critical thinking.
>>743362538Pokémon will never again reach the scale it achieved during "Pokémania"; a time when even grandmas knew the names of certain Pokémon.Today, the franchise survives on the sale of licensed merchandise, and only items related to older generations sell well. With rare exceptions, most Pokémon from current generations do not sell well in stores. It is a franchise that has already seen its heyday and is now in a "maintenance" phase, hoping that Millennials live forever, as they are the ones buying the games and products.
>>743362846When the millennials die, Pokémon will die with them.
>>743362846I still see kids picking up gen 9 starter merch where I work so clearly whatever they have still works without it needing to be the older gen stuff.
>>743362846>With rare exceptions, most Pokémon from current generations do not sell well in stores. It is a franchise that has already seen its heyday and is now in a "maintenance" phaseThe latest two gens in a row, selling 30m each, are exceptions? And 30m sales, trending upwards, is a "maintenance" phase? You are not a serious person.
>>743362807Every time.Ask sales numbers from a Nintendo fan and they froth in the mouth.Every single time.
>>743362695>counting two versions as single sales. It's been proved that around 50% of people who buy Pokémon games buy both versions. So those numbers are inflated. It should remove all people who bought it twice. The real numbers are:Scarlet and Violet: 14.14 millionSword and Shield: 13,585 million.
>>743362939>12.8m salesYeah they are really hurting.
>>743361798>BREAKING NEWS>NINTENDO SELL TO THEIR OWN CUSTOMERS>MORE AT 11
>>743363028>It's been proved that around 50% of people who buy Pokémon games buy both versions.Proven where? You're fucking retarded.
>>743363028>copeSales aren’t determined by the number of people buying it. You wouldn’t do that for anything else.
>>743363028>around 50% of people who buy Pokémon games buy both versions1. You're just shitposting and being tremendously dumb. 2. Even your halved sales are still real strong.
>>743361798Steam is absolute trash. If Nintendo games were on Steam, I wouldn't play them because I refuse to use that garbage platform.
>>743361798Nintendo games are usually about average quality, especially in the modern AAAslop hellscape. They would easily make at least 1/3rd of their current Switch numbers on Steam/GOG.Problem for Nintendo would be that at least some of that 1/3rd+ would come from people who, if given a choice between PC and Switch, would choose the former at the expense of latter and then refuse to buy the console in the first place. But the actual reason Nintendo won't do it is that japs absolutely despise the concept of giving the customer control over the product they sell, which is what releasing their games on PC would entail.
