Can I be a fan of a game series if I've only ever seen YouTube shorts about it?
>>
You can be a lower class fan, but don't expect to gain complete fanbase rights until you play the games.

no

but you can call yourself a vtuber fan
>>
>>743369641
No, unless it's gachashit.
>>
Nintendo fans do that all the time so why not
>>
>>743369641
It entirely depends on the game.

serious answer: it depends
if it's some shitty snoy moviegame then yeah just get the story and the entertainment from a streamer you like and I would say you are not missing out much of anything
however if it's a real game for people with an actual soul then no, you have to play it, it's not a movie that you can just passively watch, the whole point and the unique feature of the medium (something that nu-sòydevs struggle to understand) is interactivity within the limitations of the game world aka gameplay and game design, it's a crucial part of the experience that is you going through the motions and pushing buttons to make stuff happen
so you can get a feel of the game (mostly narrative) but no, you can't be a fan of a game that you didn't play no matter what anime pfp people on xitter say
>>

That's called being a secondary. If you don't have any primary experiences with something then you aren't a fan, just a prospective one. You are merely somewhat informed about the game.
>>
>not annoyed with people on /v/ because of the position they hold
>rather it's because they're only saying what they are to cause annoyance
>but being annoyed means they still win, even if it's for the intent and not the message

I hate playing unwinnable games.
>>
I’m a massive /v/ fan
>>

Most people are fans of a sportsball team without having played for said team.
>>
If it's a game with minimal gameplay, like a Telltale game or a VN or Outlast, then sure. But if it's a real gameplay-focused game like Dark Souls or DMC or Resident Evil, then absolutely not
>>
>>743369641
Why not? I've only seen persona 5 via tiktoks and youtube essays but it's my favorite game even if it turns to shit after the first arc lol
>>
>>743369798
this
>>
>>743369641
Which hoyo game are you a fan of then?
>>
no, and stop trying to bait people with retarded xitter drama
