Let's discuss VR games. Past, present and future.
>>
Are there VR games with good graphics? Last time I played years ago graphics were quite simple because of GPU limitations.
>>
>>743375361
Almost every Unreal Engine game can be played in VR these days. I think Half-Life: Alyx is still the best looking VR-only game.
>>
>>743375002
I'm waiting for the Steam Frame and will use it to play vidya.

Objectively correct opinions on everything
>new headsets released in 2026 with LCD belong to the garbage
>120hz should be the baseline, and we need to strive for 240hz+
>uOLED displays should be the baseline
>3500^2 per eye resolution should be the baseline
>eye and face tracking should be the baseline
>if you can't go to the kitchen to grab a drink while wearing your headset, it belongs to the garbage
>low level programmatic access to all the features should be the baseline
>if the headset doesn't use top of the line modern chips it belongs to the garbage
>>
oh and it should be 299 rubles and not one cent more

$3800 is a bit too expensive
>>
I can't wait for this retarded headset generation to finally end.
I want to upgrade.
>>
>>743377115
Steam Frame just added 10 years more to this generation.
>>
WHERE IS IT YOU FAT USELESS FUCK?! GAAABEN YOU FAT FUCKING FAAAAACK!!!
>>
entry level is too pixelated. high end is too expensive

Fun trivia: If quest 2 runs out of space while trying to store its telemetry logs because it has no internet access, the headsets starts bootlooping and you have to factory reset.

WHO GIVES A FUCK, IT'S A STILLBORN OUTDATED-ON-RELEASE TRASH
FUCKING LOW RES LCD WITH XR2G2 IN 2026
ITS OVER

The only good point is that they produced 12 headsets total, so even if retards want to waste money, they would be physically unable to do so.
>>
every VR thread is
>people who care about the hardware only and have long arguments about specs that mean nothing without games
>people who insist that playing flat games in 3D is amazing and that seeing a 3D image is way better than actually playing a VR game
>people playing grindy survival and fast paced shooter games that gain nothing from being in VR
I don't like any of these people
>>
>>743375002
Vr is dead unreal can't do high FPS and nobody's wants PS3 graphics on a 5090
>>
id still be playing VR a lot more if the thumbstick on my third pair of index controllers didn’t go bad again. I really need to find a good guide on how to fix it.
>>
Thinking about getting into VR gaming with the steam frame being my choice so far (if it actually releases) is there any others I should consider? I have a high spec pc so pcvr/steam games are what Im looking to play. Dunno if Im cucking myself with the steam frame and its lcd lenses. 1k or less budget wise if that helps.
>>
>>743377869
>people who care about the hardware only
why did you just assume that

I'm having a blast though. What am I supposed to like? Gimmicky VR titles developed for quest standalone?
>>
>>743378362
>I have a high spec pc
You better mean 4090/5090, what is considered "high spec" is "poorfag shit" for vr.

Anyway, for the first headset just buy used q2/q3. It's 95% of frame experience.
Or save money and by a proper next gen headset later with uOLED and something-other-that-adreno-7**.
>>
>>743375002
Is it true the next batman vr game is canceled?

>found out uuvr exists
>mfw got Play with Sakura to work with it after messing with the settings a bit
Works nearly perfectly. Now to look for more H-Games that use unity and see how they work.
>>
>>743378362
You should certainly wait for the Frame to release before buying anything at the very least.
>>
>>743378362
You can wait for the frame, or just get a quest 3 right now and have fun.

He says while playing a gimmicky mod that's going to make his experience worse than the original game
>>
How much does a decent headset and controllers cost?
is the porn good at all
>>
>>743375002
VR is fucking dead

Any actual game recommendations?

I went over some vr game lists and only found budget cuts, doom 3 and jedi knight ports, pretty fucking sad.

>>743379295
How does playing a first person game in first person lessen the experience? Honestly playing flat is more like driving a car.

I pressed the button
Didn't even know what it was I thought it had something to do with a locked door which was being talked about in an earlier log I picked up
>>
>>743377869
>people who insist that playing flat games in 3D is amazing
There are like 3 good VR games total. There are nearly infinite good "flat" games that are very cool to play in VR.
you're a retarded faggot.
>>
>>743380038
grim
>>
>>743377636
What even is there on the market that I can buy then? Everything else I've looked at require the fucking Index base stations for some fucking reason and they aren't being sold anymore and I didn't buy an Index.
>>
>>743377446
Not to defend fuckerberg and meta but if you run out of space on steamOS the deck also bootloops until you factory reset or boot into a USB version of Linux and free up space. I'd imagine it'll be the same with the frame since they both run on the same OS
>>
>>743377869
You forgot (you) the whiny waggle fan who wants VR to be endless full body wii games.
>>
>>743376550
VR headsets need to break out of the obsolescence loop.
They need to be extensible and built on top of a simple 3DoF wired headset with pancake lenses. Lighthouse tracking, SLAM tracking/passthrough cameras, audio, headstrap, controllers, compute, battery, camera, etc. can all be just be generic add-ons.
PC also wouldn't have gotten anywhere if you needed to buy a full prebuilt for every new GPU.
>>
>>743384059
They need to be good first.
And they need to have worthwhile content.

>can all be just be generic add-ons.
literally only you care or want that
the singular anon in the whole world
Everyone else just wants an affordable device with good specs which works.
>>
Why is Lone Echo so rarely mentioned, it's such a pretty space game
>>
>>743386102
2016 era games are usually forgotten.
>>
>>743380350
Jej I did the exact same thing.
I had to sit around and reread media logs for 5 minutes before figuring out what to do.
>>
>>743386102
It has a great vibe but honestly the actual game mechanics are lacking.
An old oculus game I liked (that you can play through VD) is Stormland.
It has way too much soul and good mechanics for being this early in the VR market.
There should be a thread about it on CS RIN.

>It has a great vibe but honestly the actual game mechanics are lacking.
Ehh I just think of it like a puzzle exporation game, ike The Room VR game
>Stormland
It's cool as hell and then you finish the campaign in 3 hours
SuperhotVR is another 2016 game that still plays nicely today
>>
>>743377869
real, i'm basically stuck playing rumble for the rest of my life cuz all anyone seems to care about is "thing you've been doing for 20 years already but now with a toaster on your head"
>>
>>743385280
They're basically already good, they just need to standardize a bit more instead of shoving integrated adware Android down your throat.
If someone wants an affordable, decent device, then the Quest 3 or Frame (will) fill that niche, but current shortages are going to slow all-in-one design way down, drive prices up and shrinkflate standards until everything has greyscale passthrough only and a default headstrap that is just 2 disposable rubber bands stolen from an office supply store.
>Literally only you want this
There's just nothing else to want out of the future of the VR market that is actually paradigm redefining other than the abandonment of the worst of the 2010s cruft, like walled gardens, Windows 10, Android and other Smartphone design trends that dominated that decade, everything else is just incremental upgrades that will not happen due to cost-cutting.
>>
>>743389496
there is nothing paradigm redefining about it, you want to create even more tinkering ewaste for autistic trannies
>b-but it's the opposite!!
everything ages at the same time, if you want to change the screen, you would need to change the lenses, and the chip too
you can make a case for tracking and audio, but audio is already modular, and tracking needs compute for SLAM, so it couples to the SOC basically
you have nothing left. I told you that your argument 0 sense in like 5 thread, you still can't get it
>Android and other Smartphone design trends that dominated that decade
because that's the only fucking way to get reliably working drivers, you mentally ill monkey
and android is just working linux if you know what you are doing
>>
>>743375527
>I think Half-Life: Alyx is still the best looking VR-only game.
Kind of funny how it is both one of the best looking games and one of the best performing games.
>>
They need to redesign Frame with removable battery to sell it in EU
>>
Release date for frame?
>>
>>743390909
It feels like forever. I knew they weren’t going to release it during the summer sale, but they are taking their sweet time. They will announce it in the next 2 months. It could be tomorrow. It could be in September.
>>
>>743386891
>SuperhotVR
any other games that actually utilise VR like this one? its weird how nobody else managed to figure out a fun mechanic for VR input
>>
>>743390897
I think it qualifies for their rules, because it is hot swappable.
>>
>>743390897
The fact that it's not hotswappable is a travesty.
>>
>>743391272
you people really need to understand the difference between hot swappable and quick swappable
and frame battery is neither
>>
>>743391347
I do know. It is hot swappable.
>>
>>743391590
what do you think "hot swappable" means?
>>
>>743391590
it's not "swappable" in any way, you fucking retard
you need to disassemble the back strap
>>
>>743391590
8/10 bait raised my blood pressure
>>
>>743375361
>Last time I played years ago graphics were quite simple
Even Robo Recall, one of the first big VR games has good graphics, it's just lazy devs
>>
>>743393589
i don't think they're lazy but incompetent
most of them comes from a android shovelware game background
>>
>>743394897
unity was just a mistake
when retards had write the engine, they learnt a lot of important things
now they just skip the "homework" yet still get a somewhat working game
but to turn the somewhat working game into properly working game, you had to do the homework
and if you've done the homework, the prebuilt engines only make it harder for you

the definition of noob trap
>>
>>743378362
You will never get a headset worthy of a 4090 or 5090 for 1k or less.
Never.
Won't happen.

>>
I play an hour of vr every day for cardio, either boxing or sword fighting and it's the most fun I've ever had playing games.

I honestly think that if we keep up a high level of activity, we don't get old and sad and lazy.
You can still just play. Try it bros.
>>
>>743400229
name games
i do thrill of the fight for boxing
what game for swording?
