His jacket literally looks like that of a rockstar, his shirtless style was taken from punk rockstars like Sid Vicious from Sex Pistols, you see guitars with amplifiers in his agency at the beginning of the game, and one of his weapons is literally an electric guitar that he uses straight away after getting it to give a concert at Nevan's stage to bring the idea home. It fits the motive of the entire game being one big party. Dante even begins the game by saying, "This party's getting crazy" and ends the game by saying, "Let's wrap up this crazy party" DMC4 Dante literally has cowboy chaps, boots, and a beard. It was meant to symbolize the fact he's a stranger in a place he doesn't belong to, aka Fortuna Island DMC5 Dante has biker boots, pants, jacket, goggles, and one of his weapons is a motorcycle. The very first scene in the very first DMC5 trailer shows him riding on Cavaliere Angelo. I think it's meant to symbolize the fact that he's at the end of his journey and is ready to ride away to the sunset, leaving the protagonist role to Nero

From there you can control either character or at least start getting Dante missions. Vergil is assumed dead off camera until he swoops in at the last minute and then they all do a family kamehamehapot together. With how V left off you can kinda just do DMC 4 again but good this time.

Like it still tried to keep it as much as possible but it feels a bit like it was de-prioritized.During the interim between 4 and 5, DMC gained a huge reputation as "the combo MAD game" so that was likely a primary goal of the design rather than a regular action game where a high level of skill allows you to do wild combos.The characters got made way more powerful and JCs were made easier, and most enemies lost the ability to effectively attack you while midair so your combo doesn't get interrupted.Also games as a whole have gotten easier, especially if they want mainstream success.
