Palworld is not suitable for children (not denying there will always be some edgy kids that will manage to get their hands on adult material) and therefore loses out on a massive merchandising target audience. Without kids it has very little room for expansion outside the games themselves, which are also limited because it won't be able to tear off too much of Pokemon's existing presence (will never release on Switch, will always have seething haters that will not only boycott it personally but also discourage others from jumping ship).
