Valve is botting up Palflop to divert attention from the biggest console flop in history, the Steam Machine.
>>
>>743378413
Yeah, the Deck is really showing it's age because games are not really designed for it like, say, the Switch 1 having dedicated versions of games. Its still good for a long of games. I just got Indiana Jones on it the other night and it works really well because it has its own Deck settings because idTech is based. Best of all is that you can just stream it on your home network from an actual PC and it works pretty flawlessly because it's not pinging some sever somewhere. Like I tried the game on Amazon Luna and even though it looked fantastic you could feel the delay because I had a hard time countering punches.
>>
>>743378621
just buy a laptop or use steam link for free bre. this is priced for people who made money off of skins and want to cash out their steam wallet funds
>>
>>743378572
Everyone in this picture is too white, straight and masculine to post on here. What were they thinking?
>>
>>743378679
And yet you're still playing on a laptop. Lmao. Believe me, I did that shit years ago with an external keyboard and mouse, and then the VGA slot for a monitor. As much as it worked, those components are that laptop shell are just not made for games like a desktop. (Later in life I would just use a regular PC plugged into a big ass TV and sit on the couch with wireless keyboard and mouse, it was ludokino)
>>
>>743378784
But forgot to mention, it's like 120GB which is half of my internal memory. Meanwhile the Switch 2 version is like 50GB.

>>
>>743378784
>Best of all is that you can just stream it on your home network from an actual PC and it works pretty flawlessly
you can use moonlight on pretty much any phone
at this point if the device loads youtube 1080p without constant buffering from the cpu/gpu shitting itself, it can stream games from your local network
this is not a high bar for the fag deck
>>
>>743378954
if you hide the steam machine, the laptop, steam deck, rog ally or chinese portable pc and give the player the controller they will not know which machine is being played on

your past xperience with intel hd graphics and being a retard to use a keyboard to play games wouldn't change anything

>You can just le sync a controller to your phone!!
Then what's the fucking point? I might as well just play on the TV and have that controller synced to the PC.

>>
>>743378782
Off the top of my head Ouya and Stadia both would have a better claim to that. There's more orders for the Steam Cube than Valve can fulfill, while those previous two couldn't even sell their initial stock.
>>
i'm convinced that it should've been using a zen3 cpu, 2x8 ddr4 configuration and a 9060xt gpu
that way it's beating the ps5 pro while being acceptably priced
>>
>>743383087
>pc os lag lol
Performance wise linux and the native games are pretty much the same shit on the PS5.
I guess not using Windows and DirectX12 does help quite a bit.
>>
>>743378006
this only killed interest in future Valve hardware.
But they just need to wait another decade and try again.
>>
>>743380406
Everyone knows there is a corrupt hardware cartel manufacturing a hardware crisis to increase prices for the next ten years. They're actually starting to be sued for some of their actual crimes.
Steam didn't increase it's prices, jewish billionaires enforced a mandatory hardware premium that you need to pay.
Plus if you missed out on steam deck early on that's on you, it's been out for years now. I've already bought my entire family steam decks. Even my mom likes it because it's touch screen and I put her favorite apps in the game mode also she started liking video games after they made video game tv shows not because her son has good tastes and has explained that games are literally fun and that writing them off as "kid shit toy" is absurd. I genuinely think my mom thought I was a retarded autist obsessed with like toy story or something equivalently puerile. I am a retarded autist, but I played black souls and fear and hunger. She just likes last of us and red dead redeption, she tried fall out but it required too much skill.
I didn't get on the list to get the steam machine, but to be honest I'd only get it to see if it offers anything, and probably set it up as a home media device because of the fast boot and the steam os. I think my family would like that. But in terms of a PC to stream to the steam frame obviously you want something stronger like my current rig. Luckily I updated it just before the hardware crisis.

>>
>>743380406
I don't think it matters that much, but apparently some people genuinely thought Gaben is like the Santa Clause of PC gaming or whatever, so at least this proved them wrong?

You know it's honestly insane the level of delusion that retards that sperg out Valve are operating under.
Everyone knows PC parts are fucked right now and the AI shit is fucking literally everyone, and they'll try to sell you that there is a significant portion of people that solely blame Valve for why they, like everyone else, even major OEMs who are scrambling to figure out how they're going to sell the markups on everything going to hit the market in a couple years when their own contracts run out, and it's not even that Valve doesn't have problems or shit they're doing "wrong" that's annoying, they do, but mental cases literally can't point to an actual real issue that Valve has because they're just so delusional.
It's never
>Hey, Valve should dump literally all the chinese data from the hardware survey since they bot that shit and the poisoned data is totally worthless to actual users and developers
>You know, maybe the AI disclosure policy was a BAD idea because now you have thousands of "games" that actual users have to filter through to find anything worth playing.
>Like 90% of the reason you finally put out Source 2 was because you recognized that it's a problem for your software to be partially reliant on third party software that could be bought by hostile "competition" why the fuck is garry newman the middleman for what is effectively the Source 2 Base SDK and why aren't linux tools available for CS:2/Dota 2/Alyx/SteamHome.
>You have an ENTIRE color scheme system that goes along with Game Profiles and people miss skins, why is it exclusively used to skin the ui in the big picture render for someone's profile?
It's always shit like
>Erm how come Valve hasn't solved cheating??? (This is an unsolvable problem, and anyone remotely suggesting any populated multiplayer game these days doesn't have a cheating problem is a liar)
>>
>>743388090
>Everyone knows PC parts are fucked right now
the steam cube goes way beyond that, it is both underpowered and overpriced at the same time.
>>
Can someone explain why they didn't just make a steam deck with better performance? I think they're betting that people aren't stupid and that they'll realize AAAA games are garbage messes that won't be played much and only the low-high end games indie are the future over ultra AAAA games?
>>
>>743389018
>Can someone explain why they didn't just make a steam deck with better performance?

>>
>>743389572
Like maybe if that x86/amd64 over arm stuff does translate into considerable battery life improvements with relatively low performance loss maybe there'd be a reason to put out a new model, but as it stands there really isn't a reason to make a "more powerful steamdeck" that isn't a practical concern for anyone not doing stupid shit like benchmarking some UE5 garbage on it.

If you're building your own? The best you can do is an ITX and accept that it'll be 2-3 times bigger. The Fractal Terra looks nice but it's much longer. You can get a slim one like the Ridge to squeeze it into a narrow space. The Mood has a similar footprint and profile liketo the Xbox SX while fitting mATX components. I recall that last one having garbage thermal design though.
Small form factor is kind of a strange market where everything costs more despite you getting less. So much so that there are boutique case designers that can cost considerable more than the familiar brands.

>>743383340
These sorts of products get their specs locked in years before they actually hit the market. This weren't available when the Steam Machine were in development.
It was coincidentally awful timing in both development and release, though. That architecture upgrade would have been a huge boon and still could have been released in the same time frame, considering its back to back release delays.
>>
>>743378006
Really? The first production run sold out. I'm still on the waiting list.
