Now that the dust has settled, what are your honest thoughts on motion controls?
Limited application like gyroscopic sensing can be fun, and they're probably really cool for racing games, but by and large it's stupid.
>>743389013Just like VR, it's too much effort. I prefer to relax in a chair.
Honestly, the wiimote/nunchuck setup was the most comfortable "controller" I've ever had.Being able to freely rest my arms wherever I want was fucking great.
I had a lot of fun with the Wii.
>motion controlsShit outside of gyro. Gyro is fine. They’re just wildly inaccurate for input. 95% of Wii games just had you shake aimlessly (waggle) because that was the one thing it could consistently detect.>pointerAmazing. 10/10. The ideal form of input for many games.
>>743389565IR pointer is fine too.
>>743389013IR aiming is the single most advanced vidya input method ever devised and we lost it because snoyiggers and xb0ts thought the Wii was kiddy.
>>743389731That’s what I was thinking of with pointer. Otherwise it’s gyro, right? It worked surprisingly well as long as the sun wasn’t coming in low through the windows FUCK
>>743389013The conduit was pretty great. Actually had to larp the harries technique to properly aim
>>743389013I miss them, they are very fun when properly used. Too bad a bad implementations base Wii remote wagglan soured opinion on them. PS Move, Kinect and Wii Motion Plus are examples of good morion controls, too bad PS4, Xbox One and Wii U mostly abandoned them.
>>743389013God, I want to fuck Nermal! <3 <3 <3Motion controls are fun
>>743389013Gyro is being slept on
>>743389013Undercooked and underutilised. The Wii had a lot of potential but it just wasn't there yet. There's plenty of good gameplay concepts trapped there that weren't able to shine because of the limitations of the wiimote. Red Steel is my go to example of a fun game that was held back by the lack of accuracy. With VR there isn't anything that makes use of the better motion controls. It could have a renaissance if developers copy pasted Wii games. Those games would benefit from the more accurate motion controls. Red Steel in VR would be an excellent experience. Instead they're chasing the mobile market.
>>743389013they're garbageI bought a wii and instantly regretted it as soon as I tried playing
