I wouldn't say huge downgrade, but T1 level design felt easier to navigate while still having enough branching paths to give the feeling of exploring an otherworldly environment.

T2 went a bit too hard on really making you feel lost in a maze of varied nightmare realms, especially later in the game. Lair of the Blind Ones is a mess of a labyrinth.

The crazy thing is how much emphasis was put into Turok 2 outside the game into the tie in comics. They gave Joshua a whole family and then got reduced to just two unrelated siblings in Turok 3. Something to do to different writers. But they kept the Council of Voices that first appeared in the comics.

I did always find it interesting that Turok 2 is easier to get lost in then Turok 1. You'd think it'd be 1. Endless Jungle with the same textures hunting for keys. Nope never got turned around in that one.

Acclaim comics imploded and all those characters are stuck in trademark limbo, IE no one knows who owns what and the powers that be don't want to spend money tracking down/paying license fees to revisit/reuse those characters.
For instance, no one can make a new Turok game with the Primagen as a character in the background, because it is partially owned by Valiant Comics and Jeff Gomez of Acclaim Comics. Same thing with the name Fireseed, because it is owned by Valiant Comics.
While Penguin Random House owns the name Turok, they cannot use Tal'Set or Joshua's appearances (IE what they look like in DH and SoE) on a new game, those are owned by Valiant.

No, the reason there won't be a RW remaster is because literally less than a dozen people played 2 multiplayer a month. That's why the stripped the entire multiplayer out of 3. They seen it as not worth the effort.

Even doom and quakeb1/2 ports the online is dead. Nobody plays that shit. Rage Wars is a multiplayer arena game. It would be dead literally at launch.

I hated it when I played it on the N64, because it was hard as hell to tell where to go. And you basically had to comb over the entire level again if you missed an objective (and each level took hours). Reducing the fog in the remaster has helped a ton and actually made it enjoyable. The level design changes help too.
