So I just played this game and I FUCKING HATE IT
>>
>>743391903
I thought it was okay. Didn't love it. Didn't hate it.
>>
>>743391903
i have been keeping track of your posts, you already said this in another thread, but got ignored, don't you feel a little pathetic for making a whole thread just to say it again?
>>
>>743391903
>signalis troon schizo hating on WW1 kino
stay mad tranny faggot
>>
>>743391903
you made this thread earlier.
>>
>>743391903
Thanks for the rec, seems kino

Talk about the game
>>
>>743394754
okay, it's a fun game that ripped off a lot mechanics from popular survival horror games, for better or worse.
the AI is fairly shitty though, and you can cheese the fuck out of most enemies with the trench shovel once you mess around a little bit.
I'm also interested to see the differences in the endings.
>>
I think its a fun game. Lack of enemies but what you're going to do in the middle of a trench. At least the weapons are fun, Im fond of the revolver and the shotgun even if they make things too easy.
>>
>>743395123
I love the presentation and eventhough I'm somewhat of a WW1 fag, too much backtracking and poor combat ultimately put me off.
>>
>>743395619
I didn't mind the backtracking much since they changed things up on return trips, and then you also had the rats to deal with.
>>
I liked it. That being said, it is definitely not a game for everyone to enjoy.
I didn't really like the shaky hands mechanic because there is nothing in-game that tells you how it really works. At least drinking all the alcohol negates most it even in a 100% kill playthrough.
>>
>>743391903
Oh you know what I actually have a complaint. Getting the best ending. Fuck you game ain't nobody writing that shit down their first playthrough unless they know to already. That's it. Fine otherwise.
>>
>>743396193
They patched that. There is a way to revisit those key sequences if you really want to change your ending last minute.
That same patch came with a lot of QoL stuff like being able to buy dedicated inventory slots for basic items like the knife.
>>
>>743395781
Not sure how viable it is for the whole game since I didn't finish it but I just kept running away from rats and it worked well
>>
>>743396406
Ah, I had none of that in my game. But neato to hear I guess.
>>
>>743391903
Really? I quite liked it. What did you hate about it?
>>

for the most part I think it's the best option for a regular playthough.
even if you catch a stray bite, the game gives you lots of healing and you aren't guaranteed to catch an infection so the risk isn't too great.

Speaking of sub-par survival horror style of games. What do you guys think of pic related?
I thought it was very long. The branching paths made replays feel less repetitive. However, the critical hit system absolutely butchers the weapon balance.
Just like Conscript, I had fun despite the flaws.
>>
>>743398060
Imma be honest chief it don't look too appealing to me
>>
>>743398274
Out of curiosity, what fails to capture you or what makes it unappealing?
Same questions for Conscript.
>>
>>743393138
>How dare you talk about video games! That's it, you're on my list!
>>
>>743391903
I was enjoying it till the second map. The level design just fucking sucks and killed my enjoyment.
>>
>watching video about this game
>youtube guy goes off on a tangent about how there were tons of black soldiers in ww1 and posters from ww1 convincing black French people to enlist are actually racist
>>
>>743399605
You mean the road? Yeah, that map is a bit too big. The map is, at its core, a very very long hallway that connects to big rooms. The only real shortcut is the truck you get access to at some point, but that just transforms the long hallway into a big ring. It still takes a while to traverse.

I can’t wrap my head around marketing yourself as a survival horror game then making the most scary enemy you fight guys in coats. The lack of a supernatural component is a total turnoff for me, it’s just not scary looking at all.
>>
>>743402056
Supernatural shit isn’t scary because it’s not real, if you were born 100 years earlier you would be face to face with these guys in coats
>>
>>743402156
I don’t care, I wasn’t born then and they’re just guys in coats. It’s visually uninteresting. I want creature designs.

same. i also had similar feelings for signalis, crow country, and tormented souls, and i came to the conclusion that i just straight up don't fw classic survival horror gameplay. why are indieheads so obsessed with it and the ugly ps1 aesthetic that's associated with it? shit's so antiquated. the re4/dead space formula became the standard for a reason.
>>
>>743402664
I like em. It is a very niche market, but its there

>exploring new area for resources as usual
>found a nice hole in the ground
>got the bad ending because apparently i ran away from the battle
well fuck you too then
>>
>>743403335
>interact with hole
>leave your post? [yes] [no]
>yes
>a cutscene plays were your character cowers in fear as the battle carries out
>apparently I ran away from the battle
lmao
>>
>>743398060
too much combat which becomes incredibly repetitive. boat sections were insanely bad. don't even get a choice to play as the guy except for a couple cutaway sections which are pretty bad
>>
>>743391903
HE HATES IT
>>
>>743405162
Boat was cringe yea. The combat could've been way better if the weapons did actually matter.
The guy's sections were okay. The thermal puzzle was cool.
>>
>>743402056
low iq

game was kino

I'm sorry it didn't have enough lesbian romance for your taste
>>
For me, its the piano and that damn whistle at final part of the game. The battle is already won by you at that point, but the enemy keeps trying.
>>
>>743406520
to be fair you need a very high iq to be satisfied with no enemy variety and no horror in your horror game
>>
>>743410884
you're right, the monsters in resident evil are so terrifying and scary

if scawy monsters = horror to you and you can't comprehend how the WW1 setting is full of horror, you are unfortunately low iq

speaking of which it has about the same amount of enemy variety as RE1

Conscript is the ultimate filter of demake babies and nu-horror babies
>>
>>743413497
you keep making up things to be upset about. i want interesting monster designs. its game about killing the same thing i could be killing in call of duty, and therefore visually uninteresting in the horror genre. that's all there is to it.
>>
>>743402056
your media literacy is lacking, war is scary exactly because it's made of ordinary humans just doing their job
>>
>>743398060
Fucking terrible. Nearly all of these are bad and show how much smarter Mikami and Kamiya were. One big thing they always do is make the environments too large. It drags everything down. OGRE had very small rooms even if you were outside. Most of these guys do not understand what they were even trying to copy.
>>
>>743413912
You can kill zombies in call of duty thoughbeit
>>
>>743415357
Yeah survival horror lives off of narrow corridors. That's why i stopped playing conscript halfway through chapter 3. Open areas are exactly the opposite of what the genre needs
>>
>>743398060
It's taking me forever to beat it but I have attention problems. I like the backgrounds. I'm still playing it and have mostly forgotten the story already. I don't regret buying it though. I've put up with way worse it's fine if you're dying for survival horror fixed camera angles type of games.
>>
>>743398562
For this game, it's mostly the artstyle that's offputting to me. It's a major factor if I consider a survival horror game interesting
>>
>>743415282
Understanding =! Approval. I get the point. It’s still boring.

There a ways to make that same point and not be visually uninteresting.
>>
>>743416840
There isnt that much to movement mechanics in fixed camera survival horror. You just wind up running through a big room. It takes too long. Heartworm had this issue massively. It is not interesting.
