Now that the dust has settled, which is the best game in the series?
>>7433955542. Obviously.I'm curious to see how 4 will go, but I have my doubts.
1 has all the routes so you can actually see the full story, but the graphics unironically bring the game down after seeing the artstyle of 2 which is clearly the definitive way the game is meant to look2 is more or less the definitive version of the game but it is missing 2 routes3’s writing was only decent compared to the kino of 2 and the gameplay was horrifically boring, but atleast we can see the bachelor route Hopefully 4 is a step up in gameplay from 3
/v/ is far too retarded for this series. To answer your question, 2
>>743396341>>743397156Why do you prefer 2 over 3?
>>743399450The writing is better, you feel far more involved in what is going on with the town and plague itself whereas 3 is more about Danil himself but you don’t learn much about the town besides the ending. And the gameplay of 3 is fucking horrendous. They took out the survival elements of 2 and dialed up the walking simulator to 11 without much to replace the missing survival mechanics. It’s still decent for what it is but it’s missing that harsh and punishing feel that Pathologic is supposed to have since you can reset almost any choice
Haven't got round to playing 3. How do people rate it? Didn't hear much about it after the release. Sounded more like a dlc than a full on Bachelor game.
>>743401228It’s ok if you like the series. If not then just play 2 instead. It definitely is a full bachelor route game if you’re looking for that
>>7433955542 is better, but i hate the fact that everything feels rushed after day 7.
>>7434003143 just failed to draw me in the way that 2 did. The ambient music and atmospheric sounds aren't as strong, and I don't like the sleeker UI with less flavor text on items. 3 also just doesn't pressure me to constantly route and weigh every miniscule decision the way 2 does. Every element of 2 just comes together so nicely, it's the most engrossing game I have ever played.
>>743402301>rushed after day 7That’s when the kino truly begins what are you smoking
>>743402368>reach her after she’s forcefully infected >used my last bottle on saving Notkin> I do love you. I’ve loved you ever since I saw you Fuck
>>743402442yeah but that's when the writing starts to get weak.
>>743402650How
I appreciate these games for being one of the only examples where they have the inquisition and the military show up and they aren’t painted as cartoonishly evil and are actually reasonable people with their own stories and weaknesses. I was expecting the military to be typical Marshall law civilian bullies but I was pleasantly surprised
>>743403050One of the KCD DLCs is like that too
>>743402692it's when you start realizing that many of the things you're doing are pointless. On day 6 i think, it's your last chance to save Rubin. You die a gorrillion times to save him, and after saving him he's pretty much gone from the game. No relevance at all, he does't tell you what he was doing in the warehouses, doesn't give you any useful information, nothing. Not to mention that later you find out that making the panacea is pointless, because Daniil and Aglaya end up discovering what's the big problem with the town anyway>inb4 "but that's the point, you're just one person your actions aren't as decisive as you think blah blah blahThey clearly ran out of time and couldn't make different outcomes for the loose ends of the game
>>7434012283 is like a fanservice game where you can spend a lot of time with each character. the game has dozens of hours of dialogue, it's crazy
>>7433955543 due to the time travel and the butterfly effects it has on the whole game it's genuinely impressive
>>743403102>rubin is in hot water with the kin and is on deaths door for over half the game>when he finally finishes his goal he goes into hiding until things cool off>comes back in the end and shows his appreciation for believing in him and sticks around to be your assistant if you convince him Seems kino to me
For any pathologic veterans, is the comparison of 3 vs 2 the same as bachelor vs horuspex in the first game, or was the bachelor route better there (relatively I mean, because I know a bunch of mechanics and polish are in the newer games)
>>743403102>no point in making the panaceaBro are you stupid? The whole game is about desperately trying to keep people alive till the end when you figure out how to truly stop the plague. Making the panacea was both to narratively show your progress in understanding the plague and to give you an in game resource to try and stave off the increasing intensity.Saying it’s pointless to make them because you just get a ton of them in the ending anyway doesn’t make sense
Is Pathologic truly the highest IQ series in gaming?
>>743403395>The whole game is about desperately trying to keep people alive till the end when you figure out how to truly stop the plague.ok listen, it's been a while since i played p2, but doesn't the game literally tell you, regardless if you succeeded in your detective work, what the problem with the town is and what you need to do? Before going to the Olongo, you can just fetch shmowders instead of trying to make the panacea. In fact, Rubin ends up making the panacea even if he dies
>>743403102But the panacea is essential for keeping NPCs alive or saving your ass if you get infected
>>743403841The name of the series is literally path o’ logic. You need to have a logical thinking brain to play it
>>743403945Rubin if he dies he manages to make 1 vial of the panacea and designates it to you. If you don’t make it beforehand you don’t figure out how to make it until you’re sent into the abattoir and given the blood directly. And by that point there were multiple points where having the cure would have been useful. You don’t really figure out what’s going on until the abattoir whether you make it yourself at first or not.Shmowders are meant to be insanely rare and expensive though in practice you can just spam refresh a kid’s inventory until she sells one
