Do you consider user-made content when deciding on your favourite game or is only official content relevant?
Just depends, but I'd say so.Most of my favs I only like for the base game.for Half-Life 2, mods can add to it, but I don't think they surpass the base game necessarily, even if I find Overcharged very fun.Smash Bros. Brawl and Ultimate are very meh on their own, but with mods they are easily the best, and replace the originals.
>>743396778Depends, but if its a sandbox intended to be modded I would heavily consider it(e.g. Garry's Mod)
>>743396778your shill thread for doom dark ages was failing so you just make this thread instead - you ad firm kikes are fucking retarded
>>743396778I mean in this case the usermade content makes up 99.9% of what the game has to offer so its hard to argue against lol

>>743396778A lot of my top 10 games oat are exclusively user made. Or artificially extend playtime if you wanna look at it like that.osu! is and has been ranked #1 for years imo because of the sheer variety in maps and skins people have made. Its nothing without its community. There's so much history with top players of different eras and stuff.Left 4 Dead 2 is a great game on its own, but its on my top 10 because I have an embarrassing amount of hours on Steam because of the custom campaigns. My criteria for a good game is high replay value, I couldn't care less about movie slop you only play once and never again. I want an addicting loop that keeps me coming back.I played Roblox for 16 years. It marked my childhood and the only reason I was drawn to it was because of the creativity of the players. Its not the same anymore with corporate companies taking over, but it has a special place in my top 10 greatest games of all time. It was basically Lego for poorfags.Minecraft is more of the same story, I like the vanilla game. But I don't think I would still be playing if it wasn't for the mods. Mojang updates have been lackluster to say the least, mods breathe new life into that game.Same goes for The Sims 2, you make your own story and you can dress up your sims however you'd like. I like making sluts.
>>743396778As odd as it sounds I think intent matters?I mean doom and doom 2 is open source, even if you DO pay for it you're just paying for the enclosure+sprites. Mapping tools, however archic have been available since almost day 1, functionally the game is built around custom content from the get go. Id go far as to say minus the game relying on forums for sharing content and not having a dedicated source it's as focused on user content as something like N++.But for most games where custom content is incidental or came later in it's life I often consider it secondary.I feel like my actual favourite game Rain World which also happens to have a lot of custom content, but didnt have it as a focus until a bit into it's lifepspan. I consider my favourite in spite of custom content.Doom 2 I feel like the mods and source ports are a package deal.
>>743396778would game like team fortress 2, csgo or roblox be anywhere near as popular without their communities and fanmade content? probably not. i'd go so far as to say things that aren't the game at all like community discussion can make something your favorite game. smash ultimate had so many threads just cause fanboys really wanted to see characters they like in the game. Pokemon has an entire board, with leaks, competitive dicussion (the entire scene is fanmade), or which girl they wanna rape.
