Game looks pretty good if you don't mind just being a murderhobo. Unfortunately I can't really get into action/adventure/rpg-type games without at least a passable narrative hook or standout characters. It really is a dealbreaker.

Still, glad the game succeeded cause I want to see more fantasy games that aren't soulslikes. I still think it's truly the first 'next gen' game we've had in a long time. So many games have claimed to be that. Like Cyberpunk but that game feels so half baked to me. Crimson Desert is massive, polished, feels alive, and has tons of little immersive things to see and do that don't feel tacked on but instead feel intuitive and natural. Like reflecting light off your shield to cook meat. And on top of all that, it runs extremely well on everything I've played it on. My 5080 PC, my Series S, my laptop, and my ROG Ally. I'm excited for the future games Crimson Desert helps usher in bros

I never played Red Dead so I don't know how much tech is actually just something Rockstar already did, but considering that's a bloated billion dollar AAAA buffet, and this is a passion project by some korean devs, it's really impressive.

It's begging for somebody with a vision to come and refine all those ideas and mechanics into something more structured, but as far as "fantasy sim" goes it's really charming. It's obsession with detail is insane and i'm amazed at how much the engine can handle.

I got burnt out after 150 hours. I went from being addicted to it to not wanting to touch it at all. It's a decent game but you can tell It's basically an MMO in a single player offline format, which is what the game literally is. I haven't even got the crimson desert yet but the game gives me no motivation to. There aren't even any cool weapons to unlock since the combat progression is entirely based on the abyss cores which any noob can max out early on for the most part.
